“This isn’t romantic?”

“This is me losing my mind because you wore no underwear to dinner.” He curled his fingers and I gasped. “There’s a difference.”

“I don’t see the problem.”

He pulled back to look at me, his fingers stilling. The playfulness in his expression faded into something more serious and vulnerable.

“I want this to be different,” he said quietly. “Not just checking off a list. Not sneaking around. I want—” He stopped, shaking his head like he couldn’t find the words.

But I understood.

I reached up to touch his face. “Then make it different.”

“I want to make love to you.”

Emotion nearly clogged my throat. “What do you think we’ve been doing?”

Because there was a difference and there always hadbeen with Liam. Our sex had always been charged with something more, even when it wasn’t supposed to.

“I don’t want to rush. I want to savor you.”

I kissed him again, lightly nipping his bottom lip before I pulled away. “We have all the time in the world, Li. There is no rush, no matter how you make love to me tonight or tomorrow or a week from now.”

His eyes grew hungrier and then he was kissing me so fiercely, I was lost to him. He pulled back just enough to watch my face as he pushed inside me slowly, inch by inch, and I kept my gaze locked on his the whole time.

I was mesmerized by the way his jaw clenched with restraint, how his pupils dilated as he buried himself so deep I wasn’t sure where he ended and I began. I watched emotion flit across his face, the same that was probably reflected on mine—wonder, desire, awe, and most of all so much love it was consuming.

And that’s exactly what he did.

He consumed me with just his gaze.

“You feel…” He shook his head, apparently unable to find the words. “Nothing has ever felt like this.”

I knew what he meant. We’d had sex before—plenty of times, in plenty of positions, in plenty of places. But it was different now that there were no walls between us, no hiding or pretending this didn’t mean anything.

This meanteverything.

He started to move, and I lost the ability to think.

Each thrust hit deep enough to make me gasp. He kept his forehead pressed to mine, breathing the same air, his eyes never leaving my face.

“I love you,” he said again, punctuating the words with a roll of his hips that made stars burst behind my eyes. “I love you so fucking much.”

“I love you.” The words came out broken, barely audible. “Liam… please?—”

“Please what?” He picked up the pace slightly, and I moaned at the change in friction. “Tell me what you need.”

“More. Faster. I need—” I couldn’t finish the sentence. Could only dig my nails into his shoulders and hold on.

He gave me what I needed even without my ability to ask for it. I shouldn’t have been surprised. Liam knew my body better than I did. His hips snapped against mine, driving deeper, harder, and I wrapped my legs around his waist to pull him closer. The sounds filling the room were obscene—skin against skin, my desperate moans, his low groans of pleasure.

“That’s it,” he murmured against my ear. “Fuck, Sunshine. So fucking good.”

His hand slipped between us, thumb finding my clit, and I came.

The orgasm tore through me in waves, pulling a cry from my throat that I didn’t even try to muffle. Liam fucked me through it, his pace turning erratic as I clenched around him, and then he was coming too—burying his face in my neck and groaning my name like it was the only word he knew.

We lay there afterward, tangled together, neither of us willing to move.
