His hand lands on the frame again as he wraps his arm around my waist tightly. His hips move against me with such force, I have to push against the frame to keep us from slamming into it and breaking it.

He’s giving me what I asked, alright. He’s buried so deep inside of me I can’t see straight, and as he reaches his hand around and rubs at the sensitive bundle between my legs, I feel like I’m about to shatter. Over and over he pumps into me with such delicious, feral thrusts that my mind is free of anything but this. Yet somehow, I still I want more of him.

I’ll never have enough.

“More. Harder,” I whimper.

His two fingers make circles between my legs as he fucks me harder, and then all at once I explode. My head falls against the wooden frame and he lets go of it to grab my waist again, this time so tightly he must know I’ll collapse if he doesn’t. He keeps circling with his fingers, and then suddenly I feel him spilling himself inside of me, and it’s as if it prolongs my orgasm even more. He pumps into me with a few more deep jerks as I ride the last waves, and then he stills, leaning his forehead against the wooden frame beside me.

He still has a hold of my waist, and he’s still buried inside of me. I close my eyes and try to catch my breath.

“I love you,” he says, peeling his eyes open to look at me sideways. He’s still pressed up against me from behind, and I love the feeling of it.

“I love you,” I whisper.

I move to separate, but he tightens his grip on me, shaking his head.

“No.” He kisses my shoulder. “I’ll let you breathe for a minute, but then I’m pushing you down onto that bed with that perfect ass in the air just for me, and I’m fucking you again.”

And just like that, my body is clenching around him, still inside of me, and my hips involuntarily thrust against him.

The smirk he gives me could melt any ice that I summon. “I guess you don’t need to wait then.”

He flips me down onto the bed, pulling my hips up in a rush, and makes good on his promise.

Chapter 73

“Sooo, what’s our backup plan if this doesn’t work?”

“It’s going to work.” Raef holds his chin up high as we head to the wilds on foot to attempt to burn the relics outside of town, away from prying eyes.

“But if it doesn’t?”

He heaves a sigh. “It will work,” he mumbles to himself. “It has to.”

Daegan seems uneasy beside me. Quiet. Maybe a little anxious. I guess we all probably are. We’ve given up so much to get here, and it’s strange that the moment is finally upon us.

We stop in the middle of a clearing amongst a light scattering of trees, then we assemble the relics in the center all together, all touching. I remove the vial of Mathrel’s blood last, placing it atop the sword and necklace.

“Wait,” Daegan says, pulling out his eyebrow stud for possibly the last time. He places it carefully with the rest of the items.

We all step back, side by side, looking down upon them. Raef is on one side of Daegan and I’m on the other, with Kezra fluttering beside me. It seems so anticlimactic in this secluded, quiet forest with just the four of us. Half of the people who helped get us here are dead. I get an eerie, sad sensation as a light breeze makes its way through the clearing.

Daegan squeezes my hand and looks into my eyes intensely. “I love you. Always.”

“I love you always.”

“And I love you all too,” Raef announces. “Now let’s do this shit.”

“Do you want to do the honors?” Daegan asks his friend.

“Fuck yes.”

Daegan steps back with me as Raef steps closer to the pile.

“I don’t think it’s going to work,” Daegan mumbles, staring at the clearing with a faraway look.

“Why not?” I ask, tilting my head as I look at him.
