Chapter Fifteen
Milly
I am driving downa long stretch of road when I notice a car behind me is incredibly close. It takes me a second to realize who it is, but then it’s too late. The car moves left as they speed up, and they hit the back corner of my car. I am immediately sent into a tailspin that lands me in a ditch off the side of the road. I am dazed from the crash, but I don’t think I am hurting. I know the smoke is from the airbag, but I still open the door to try and get out.
I scream and try to shut it back when I see Greg charging toward me. When I can’t get it shut, I turn and try to crawl over the center console to get out from the other side. I instantly regret my decision when he grabs my hips and pulls my body back so I am bent over my seat.
“Stop!” I scream as I grab and claw at the console, trying to pull myself away from him. He ignores my pleas and yanks my pants down. I continue to scream and thrash as he holds me against the seat with his hand between my shoulder blades. He manages to get a condom on and shoves inside of me, but this time I don’t shut down. My voice breaks when my screams get louder, and I fight back. He has so much leverage over me that it doesn’t do anything except make him go harder as he rapes me. It’s not until he randomly pulls out and forces himself into my ass that I realize he is trying to make me shut down. He wants me to be still. The more I move, the angrier he gets.
“Useless fucking bitch!” he screams at me when he abruptly pulls out of me. He grabs me by the hair and yanks me backward so hard that I fall to the ground. He is suddenly on top of me again, hitting me. I cover my face with my arms and scream for help as he punches and slaps me. My brain isn’t connecting what he is saying to me, but it doesn’t matter.
Greg suddenly jumps up and runs away, leaving me confused. Until Dad gets to me, that is. Greg didn’t expect him to come for me. I had a feeling he would, and as soon as I can reach him, I throw myself into his arms.
“Let me get you to the hospital, okay?” Dad says, pulling back to hold my face. “We can call the boys when we get there.”
“Okay,” I whimper. Dad helps me get my pants back on before helping me to my feet. My wrist hurts so fucking bad from Greg punching it over and over again. He slapped me in the face a few times, but luckily, my arm and side caught all of the punches.
“Can you get my bag?” I ask. “My poor car.”
“Cars can be replaced, sweetheart,” Dad says as he leans into the car to retrieve my belongings. I notice he leaves my phone behind.
“I might need my phone,” I say.
“He tracked you somehow. It’s best if it is hauled away with the car,” he says as he wraps his arm around my waist and helps me up the hill to his truck. When he gets in, I lay my head back.
“I think my wrist is broken,” I say.
“Anything else hurt?”
“My asshole,” I say, and Dad’s head snaps to me. I sit up and realize how crude that was. “Right. Sorry. He raped me. Used a condom, but part way through he… switched entries.”
“Jesus, Milly. I’m so sorry,” Dad says with a sigh.
“It’s okay. I’m just glad he didn’t punch me in the face,” I say. “That was the first time I’ve ever fought back. I think that’s why he got so mad.”
“He’s used to you shutting down,” Dad says as he drives.
“Yeah, I guess he can’t come if his victim is moving and screaming for help,” I say. “I shouldn’t have left home by myself.”
“We live and we learn, Milly,” Dad says. “Adam texted me and said you and Grayson got into an argument.”
“Yeah… and I overreacted and told him I was done. I broke off our relationship because apparently I don’t know how to communicate like an adult.”
“Well, I think it’s to be expected that you are going to struggle. Adam just said you needed some time to clear your head and asked me to bring you back to the house. How is your hand?”
“Oh… right,” I say, looking down at the blood-soaked towel wrapped around my hand. “Yeah… I think I need stitches.”
“Yeah, I’d say so,” Dad laughs. We go silent for a while, but eventually, I break it.
“I want to kill him,” I say. “I’m not saying it just to say it… I want to watch him die.”
“Trust me… Grayson is going to make him suffer,” Dad says.
“Good,” I remark.
When we get to the hospital, Dad gets me a wheelchair, even though I can walk. I appreciate it because it means I don’t have to. My side hurts, and sitting helps.
We get in, and he pulls one of the nurses aside to talk to her. I watch them, but I can’t hear them. She nods and walks away before Dad comes back. “Alright, Kiddo. Let’s get back to a room.”
