“Is this like a super secret room?” I ask.

“Yeah,” he says as he pushes my chair. “You won’t be listed in the system for your safety. Everything will go through me until Grayson gets here.”

“He’s going to be mad at me,” I say with a sigh.

“No, he’s going to be glad you’re okay,” Dad says. We stop in front of a room, and Dad helps me stand before walking me in to sit me on the bed. He moves the chair to sit beside me before pulling his phone out. After a few attempts at calling, Grayson answers.

“Greg ran her off the road. You need to get up to the hospital,” Dad says. “Yeah, she’s okay. I scared him off… I’ll let her tell you what happened, but she likely has a broken wrist… No, she’s okay… Grayson, she’s okay. Would you like to speak with her? … Here she is.”

“Hey…” I say slowly.

“We are on our way right now. Are you okay? Are you hurt?”

“I’m okay. Kinda glad he fucked up the wrist on the same side as the cut,” I say. “I’ll explain when you get here so you don’t rage drive. I’m okay, though. No impending spirals.”

“That’s not what I meant, Baby Girl. I’m so sorry for what I said earlier, though. I shouldn’t have said that. I had no reason to be so shitty.”

“It’s okay,” I say. “Sorry I’m a psycho. I shouldn’t have run away like a child, so I guess we are even.”

“We need to talk when we get there,” Grayson says. “I love you, Milly. So damn much.”

“I love you, too, Grayson. Next time, lock me in a closet so I can’t run away.” Grayson laughs, and it makes me relax significantly.

When we get off the call, a doctor named Jamie Granger comes in and starts by unwrapping my hand and cleaning it. After that, I am taken down to get an X-ray to confirm that I have, in fact, fractured my wrist—my ulna, specifically. When I return to the room, Dr. Granger gives me pain medicine through my IV and numbs my hand to begin the process of stitching it closed. Luckily, the break isn’t complete, so it should heal quicker and around the same time that my hand is healed from the cut.

About halfway through the stitches, Grayson and Adam come running into the room. “Hi, baby!” I say with a grin.

“She’s high,” Dad laughs. Grayson comes over and hugs me as tightly as he can without hurting me. When he pulls back andsits next to me on the hospital bed, Adam leans down and hugs me.

“Are you okay?” Grayson asks. “What happened?”

“I was driving, and I realized that the person riding my ass was Greg. As soon as I noticed, he hit me, and I spun into a ditch,” I say. “It happened fast. The smoke from the airbag was getting to be too much, so I opened my door to get out. That’s when Greg got to me. I tried to climb across to the passenger door, but he grabbed me. I fought him as he yanked my pants down and started raping me. I didn’t shut down, though. I don’t know why, but I just kept fighting him, even when he… moved holes… but I guess he prefers me limp, because he threw me out of the car and started hitting me. I was able to cover my face, so my arm and side got the worst of it. I have a hairline fracture to my ulna, but no broken ribs. It’s probably going to be uncomfortable to shit for a while, but… I’m okay.”

“I’m so glad you’re okay, Baby Girl,” Grayson says softly. He’s not meeting my eyes, and I find that suspicious.

“What did you do?” I ask. “You’re acting sketchy.”

“I cheated on you… I think,” he says bluntly.

“With… Hope, or…” I ask.

“What? No. With Adam,” he says.

“The way I would come on the spot seeing you on your knees for him,” I say, and Adam laughs heartily. “Please tell me you submitted for him.”

“I am wildly uncomfortable right now,” Dad laughs.

“Meh,” I say. “Kink is hereditary. The way I see it, we all know now that Greg is Mom’s bitch, so it’s you that I got my submissiveness from.”

“I’m not responding to that,” Dad says, laughing again.

“Anyway,” I say. “Was this the first time?”

“No, it’s basically been a thing since we were nineteen,” Grayson says.

“That’s more like… lack of communication,” I say. “I assume you were planning to tell me?”

“Yes, I just wanted to get you through dinner with my parents first,” he says. “I’m sorry I didn’t tell you sooner.”
