As I stand, I lean down to my mother and place a kiss on her soft cheek.

“Yeah, thanks for the munch, Ma. I will see you soon.”

I give my Pa one last look and turn around to leave the expansive mansion.

I’m perched on the kitchen counter as Reign stands beside me, shirtless, making us a ‘healthy breakfast’ at the stove. I observe his every move as he plates everything up and when he turns and hands me mine, I take it, my stomach grumbling as the beautiful aroma fills my nostrils.

“Thank you. It looks and smells amazing.”

I place the plate down beside me on the counter and dig my fork into the vibrant food before bringing it to my lips. I blow before delicately placing it into my mouth and as soon as it hits my taste buds, I moan with my eyes closed. When I open my eyes as I chew, I notice Reign watching me with his brow raised. I smile before speaking, with it buried in the side of my cheek.

“This is good. I didn’t know you could cook."

He stays silent as he picks up his plate, and he steps toward me before turning around and resting against the counter between my thighs.

“We have to learn how to cook healthy while training; we can’t just have a fucking chef in here all the time.”

The fact he has chosen to stand between my legs while we eat makes me feel warm inside, but I try not to make a big deal out of it by saying anything, instead I shuffle closer before wrapping my arm around his middle. I notice him glance down at it before side-eyeing me, an eyebrow lifted and when I glance down at my food again, I smile. As we are eating, I decide to try to pull a conversation out of him.

“So, this guy you beat. Was he tough or was he an easy opponent?”

He pauses from chewing for a moment, pondering my question, and when he digs his fork back into his food, he answers.

“Well, I got a text this morning saying he has a fractured skull, and he is in a coma, so that should answer your question.”

I nearly choke on my food and my eyes widen.

“Wow, what did you do to him?”

I feel and hear him take a deep inhale before he responds flatly.

“I made a fucking example of him.”

My brows pinch in perplexity.

“As in the fighting world or did you know him personally?”

He brings the fork to his lips before he replies.

“Both.”

My brows rise in surprise and the thing that Lucy said to me about Reign and Chaos being part of the Bratva lingers in my mind. Maybe I can find out some things while he is in the talking mood.

“So, was he like an enemy or?”

I keep my eyes on my food, but I feel him halt before he turns his big body to face me. His pretty brown eyes search mine and he raises his chin.

“What do you know about us, Charley?”

It’s as if he heard my thoughts because I’m almost certain I didn’t utter a word. Again, I try to remain casual, and I glance down at my food once more before shrugging my shoulders.

“Lucy might have mentioned the Bratva or something.”

I can sense him watching me, the intensity pouring out of him and it’s almost unbearable, but I try to brush it off while bringing more food to my mouth and returning my eyes to him.

“So, is it true? Are you and Chaos part of the Bratva?”

I notice his jaw tenses as he also looks down at the food in his hand.
