I kissed her on her neck. “It felt like it. I needed you with me.”

I took her hand and walked her up to our section. Once them extra bitches saw Islah, they got up outta there quick.

Sammy and Keith looked at me and laughed when I walked through with Islah, like I was doing something that surprised them.

We took a seat, and I pulled Islah into my arms.

“Why did you want me here with you?” she asked.

I looked around the club at the bitches looking at me.

“Because these bitches are doing a lot here, I wanted to show them why I was good.”

Islah smiled at me and leaned her head on my shoulder, cuffing her hand in mine.

Me and my niggas continued to talk. It was crazy that my mood lightened up since I had her next to me, and I felt much better. I started joking with my niggas, doing my lil’ dance while sitting down, making Islah smile until her song by Ella Mai, Little Things, came on, and I stood up.

“Come on, mamas,” I said, reaching out my hand. “Come two steps with me.”

Islah smiled, and we walked out, taking up the middle of the story by any means like we were practicing for our first time.

Me and Islah hit our lil’ side while them bitches that was trying to jump on my dick watched from the side mad.

“Aye, we got an engagement in the building,” The DJ yelled out. “Y’all shout out Love and his fiancée, Islah!”

The spotlight was on us, and the room clapped for us while we still moved around.

Islah had a smile on her face that I could never forget. Fuck her lighting up the room. She lit up my life and was slowly turning me into a better nigga, a nigga that was just for her.

“I want to marry you now,” I blurted out. She pulled away from me, looking at me like this wasn’t the place to talk about it, but I didn’t give a damn. I pressed into her back, bringing her body back into mine before I continued. “I don’t want to wait anymore. It’s been too much going on, and what would make me the happiest right now would be making you my wife, soon, rather than a month or two away.”

Islah looked at me. She opened her mouth and closed it because nothing was coming out. Then she tried again.

“I…well…,” she stuttered. “Let me think about it.”

I nodded and left it at that.

Chapter 27

Truth

Igot to the bridal boutique early and waited in my car for the girls to get there. My mind was all over the place cause of Love was telling me that he wanted to get married now. Even though I had the same thoughts here and there, I put in too much work not to see it through.

I sat there staring through the windshield while people walked past my car. The venue was booked. The dresses were bought, and I even sent out the invitations on a bored-ass day I had. Everything was completely done, but my mind kept flashing me and Love running off somewhere just us and Amir and getting married, and it brought a smile to my face.

I was broken outta my thoughts by Kenya knocking on my window.

“Damn girl, you gonna hop out or what?” she asked.

I laughed and got out, giving each one of them a hug before we walked inside.

The fitting started as normal. The ladies tried on their dresses first, and everything fit great.

“My ladies look so good!” I yelled out, trying to bring myself outta my thoughts.

“We do, don’t we?” Deja said.

The seamstresses fixed any lil’ things that needed to be done, then it was my turn. I walked to the back with the consultant, looking at my dress hanging up, waiting for me. They helped me slip into my dress, and this time, it fit me like a glove.
