Jay didn’t move until they were ready to head inside. He was too stiff. Despite the long day and even longer night, he was oddly excited to do a slumber party—whatever that was.

Crisp tossed a sweet smile his way as they walked hand in hand inside. “Thank you for tolerating this.”

Jay scoffed. “Tolerate? I’m excited. What do we do? It’s slumber. Do we just sleep?”

“There’s lots of alcohol,” Field said behind him.

“Oh, good. The painkiller of champions.”

Crisp snorted.

Jay’s face hurt from smiling. It was the perfect ending to a day. He was in love. Crisp had his family back. They were about to slumber party. Life was beautiful.
