"Good…all okay?" She pulled the phone away from her ear when it crackled loudly. "Billy, find the generator."

"What? Can't…you," Billy's voice came back.

"The generator…in the garage."

"Hol—on. Mum—"

"I can't hear you. You're cracking up," Imogen said and moved again, trying to find a better position.

"Immy? It's Mum…"

"Mum! Can you hear me?"

Robbie leant into Janka and whispered, "I don't think they can hear her."

Janka giggled.

"Mum, there's a generator in the garage."

"The garage?"

Imogen's voice rose. "Yes, that's what I said, the garage, there's a—"

"We…get out...are…okay?"

"Ugh this is so frustrating," Imogen said over her shoulder to her friends. "Mum? Mum?" She let her arm fall, the phone screen in her hand now dark. "It's cut out again." She turned to Janka and Robbie. "Do you think they got the info?"

Robbie shrugged.

"So…are we going to have a snowball fight or not?" Janka waggled her brows at them both.

"And build a snowman," Robbie reminded them. "We all agreed last night, if we couldn't ski…"

Imogen tossed the phone onto the bed. "Let's do it."

Chapter twenty-six

"Did you make any sense of that?" Rosa asked.

Billy shrugged. "Other than something about Jenny and later?"

"That's what I thought she said too, but who's Jenny, and what's happening later? Do you think they've managed to dig themselves out?" A smile spread across her face. "Maybe they're coming this way to digusout?"

"Maybe." Billy smiled and moved slowly towards her. "And you know what that means, right?"

Rosa eyed her. "No, what does that mean…" She laughed nervously as Billy got closer. "Billy…"

"Rosa…"

"Are you… We only just washed and changed…"

"Uh huh, and we can boil up more water later, Rosa." She was within reach but didn't push. "So, you wanna…while we still have the opportunity?"

Stepping forward, Rosa placed her palm against Billy's chest. "I want to…"

"But?"

"Not a but, really, just…I think it would be more helpful to me, if we slowed this down a little."
