This is good.

He almost forgets about the article, but he’s reminded when they go back to the couch and the magazine is still sitting there.

It’s unfortunate how they can’t just go about their business in private like everyone else, but this is their reality. They can’t change it. And he’s sort of tired of trying to hide from it.

Trevor's managed to live a quiet and peaceful life the last few years. But it's like he was only living a half-life without Skyler in it. Letting Skyler back in means letting everything back in. The rumors and the worries.

Happiness.

Love.

Skyler fills his life with warmth and colors and music. A sky full of stars even in the densest city. And that’s worth the rest of it, the harder parts.

Skyler James is worth everything.

He doesn’t know how he ever doubted it.

As Skyler glances around for the TV remote, Trevor tells him, “We should get back to L.A. soon.”

“What?” Skyler says, hand hovering over the remote on the coffee table. “No, we—It’s okay, it was a trashy gossip rag, nobody believes anything they print in there.”

Trevor shakes his head. “Your manager keeps calling to ask when you’ll be ready to start recording. I know you’ve been working on some songs, but I imagine your writing team and producers are in L.A., right?”

“Yeah, but…” Skyler reaches around him and then holds up the magazine. “Is this because of this? Did it scare you?”

Trevor grimaces.Honesty.This only works if they’re not afraid to talk about how they feel. “It did a little bit, yeah. But mostly, I know we need to get back. Both of us. It’s not fair to my guitar students that I keep rescheduling them.” He might not have much of a life waiting for him back in L.A., but he does have one. Scratching a hand through his hair, he tries to figure out how to assure Skyler that he’s not going to let the article or what Skyler revealed earlier change anything. All he can come up with is, “I promise I’m not running.”

Skyler beams at him like the declaration is bigger than it is before leaning in so wildly to hug him that he sends them both tumbling to the floor. The magazine goes with them, its pages crinkling. Trevor laughs and holds Skyler’s face as Skyler bends down to kiss him.

They exchange playful kisses that eventually grow more heated. And when Skyler wrestles the magazine from underneath Trevor’s back and flings it across the room hard enough that it sends something falling off a bookshelf, neither one of them can be bothered to care.

PERSONAL TRAGEDY STRIKES BOYS WILL BE BOYS SINGER TREVOR BLUE

Boys Will Be Boys fans were disappointed last night when member Trevor Blue was unexpectedly absent from the band’s concert in Phoenix, AZ. The band’s management released a statement only one hour before the show was scheduled to start, announcing that Blue would not be performing with the band due to a “family matter.”

We had to do our own digging to find out the singer’s mother had been killed in a car accident. Blue purchased a home for his mother less than a year ago, while he himself still rents with best friend and bandmate Skyler James. Our condolences go out to Blue during this difficult time, and we hope he’ll be able to rejoin his bandmates on tour very soon.

Chapter Thirty-Three

Before

TREVOR

Skyler had taken careof him. Sat him on the floor of the shower fully clothed and turned the water on cold until Trevor had sputtered and asked what he was doing, and then Skyler told him he’d been unresponsive for five minutes.

Now Skyler was gone, and Trevor didn’t know how long ago he’d left him with his bag mostly packed, telling him to throw in his toiletries, but he was pretty sure he’d been standing here holding his deodorant and staring into the open bag ever since.

He needed to move. He needed to go. Get on a plane and fly home and…

He wasn’t sure what exactly he was supposed to do after that. Or how he was supposed to do it. How he was supposed to do anything when the world had stopped turning.

There were socks in his bag, but they weren’t… He wasn’t supposed to be here. He was supposed to be in L.A., and those were Skyler’s socks, and he needed his toothbrush.

Would there be snow? He didn’t have boots, but maybe he could borrow some. No, wait. It didn’t snow in L.A. until—Oh.

He was falling apart at the seams.

It would take a lot of work to sew him back together. His mom is terrible at sewing.
