“Call your insurance company and see what they can do.” He says, like duh dip shit tell me what I don’t know.

“My, we will get if fixed. I’ll call the guys and we can get this cleaned up and have everything installed by the end of the week.” Cal starts calling all his friends and our brother Jace and refuses to see that I don’t care about how to rebuild and only what was lost.

Sam walks over and pulls me away from Cal. “Shhh Pet. I can see you ready to scream. He is trying to help and protect you.”

I turn and look at him with my arms loose around his waist. “I know, but I can fix it, I don’t need his money or ego. I need a brother who see’s how hard I worked for this on my own without anyone.”

He pulls me close and soothes me immediately. “I know Pet.”

We spend another forty minutes with the detectives and police before everyone starts to clear out. Within minutes I see half the PIT crew and all the members of TAT showing up to help. I try to show my graceful side in thanking them. Noah, Shame and Chad are all like brothers to me and Asa and the guys are like brothers to Sam. I appreciate the help, I do…

“Baby get out of your head. This isn’t power or ego. We all love you and are here for you.” Sam takes my hand and guides me toward the chairs where the parents sit as I teach their children. He sits pulling me on his lap with him. “I know you hate being connected to Cal’s fame, but that isn’t what this is. I think it’s a lot of big brother posturing wanting to protect you the only way he knows how.”

I nod and rest my head on his chest and sigh. “I need to cancel my classes until I know when I can reopen.”

“Can I make a suggestion?” He asks and I sit up some to look at him. “Let Cal pay for everything to get replaced so you can reopen in a few days. Once the insurance pays out, pay him back.”

I laugh at that. “He would never let me pay him back.”

“I know. Pay Jen. Jen understands being independent.”

I laugh again because we both know how right that is. “Just let him feel rad, you get this place open with a ‘fuck you, no one can stop me’, then give Jen the money to hide in the bank with millions.”

“Okay.”

“Okay?” He asks with a sweet smile.

“Yeah, okay.”

“That’s my girl. She’s a smart one.”

I look up at him and place my hand on his scruffy cheek. “I like being that.”

“Oh yeah.” He winks and smiles and it makes my heart flip.

I nod. “Well, consider it official and shit, my girl.”

I laugh and kiss his cheek. “I miss seeing the tattoos on your jaw, but I love how this scruff feels when you go down on me.”

I see the heat in his eyes from my words and it goes straight between my legs and I want to be alone with him. “Can’t we tell everyone to leave and just be alone?”

Be fore he can respond I feel my stomach drop when Micha says my name.

“Mya?”

Dammit! I forgot he was even here. I really am an asshole and I feel shitty knowing he didn’t deserve to see me like this with Sam.

I jump from Sam’s lap by instinct, instantly regretting it when I see the pain in Sam’s eyes.

“Micha-“ He holds his hand up to shut me up and takes two steps towards me.

“Oh, save it Mya. I knew when you pulled in with him. I’ve waited for a fucking hour to get some answers as to why and this is what I find when I come inside. I knew I had to worry over this piece of trash.”

Sam laughs at the insult as he leans back in the chair, arms folded and just stares at us.

I have had enough of his insults to Sam though. “Micha, I am sorry that I didn’t end things when I knew Sam was a threat, but I am tired of you trashing him. He has accomplished more in his life than you have and has more to show for it. He is selfless and kind and he doesn’t judge.”

Micha laughs like a snob. “How are you this stupid?”
