“Sounds like you had quite the night.”
“You have no idea.”
“Just do me a favor. Don’t let your guard down just yet. Make him earn it.”
“I fully intend to.” My smile widens when I exit the building to find Macallan parked just outside, leaning against the driver’s door of his car. His dark hair still damp from the shower.
My God, if he isn’t the most beautiful man on the freaking planet.
“Char, I gotta go,” I say, abruptly cutting her off when she starts to say something else. “I’ll call you later?”
“I’ve heard that before,” she grumbles.
“Love you.”
“Love you, too.”
I end the call, shoving my phone into the front pocket of my bag as I close the distance between me and Mac.
“What are you doing here?” I ask when I reach him, my smile widening when he takes the bag from my shoulder, draping it over his own.
“Thought maybe I could take you to lunch. Seeing how you wouldn’t let me feed you this morning.”
“I didn’t have time to eat this morning.” I give a pointed look, knowing he knows he’s the culprit of that.
“Yeah, definitely not sorry about that.” He smirks, tugging open the back door where he quickly deposits my bag into the back seat. “What do you say?”
“Doesn’t look like you’re giving me much of a choice.” I gesture to where he just shut my bag inside the car.
“You complaining?” He grabs my hand, pulling me flush against his chest.
“Definitely not complaining.” I smile up at him just seconds before his lips find mine. He kisses me slow and deep, making my toes curl with the promise the kiss holds.
“Let’s go. Otherwise, I might be tempted to fuck you right here in the parking lot.”
“And that’s a problem?”
“Don’t tempt me, Mais. When it comes to you, I think you’ll find that I have very little self-control.”
My heart does a full flip inside my chest, but instead of pushing him further like I want to, I nod once, taking a step back.
“I want pancakes,” I tell him, crossing around the front of the car. After last night and then practice today, I’m in desperate need of some carbs. I’m just reaching out to grab the handle when he appears, opening the door for me. “Such a gentleman.” I grin, sliding into the passenger seat.
“I think we both know that’s not true.” He leans down, his face only inches from mine. “A reminder I’ll be sure to reinforce once I have you back in my bed.”
I can’t wait, I think to myself as he straightens and closes the door, sealing me inside.
“Don’t you have a game tomorrow?” I ask, my headpropped on Macallan’s bicep as my fingers trace circles across his muscular abdomen.
“I do. Why?” He drops the strand of my hair he’s been twirling around his finger for the better part of five minutes, his hand grazing my back moments later.
“Just curious.”
“You thinking about coming to cheer me on?”
“Maybe.” I fight the smile threatening to break across my lips. “Would that be okay?”
“Are you kidding? I would love it if you did.”
