This is my first time flying first class. Thanks for the fancy ticket
Liam
Thank Reynolds, not me. If it were up to me, you’d be hanging out with me and Fitz
Lettie
Sounds nice
Liam
Doesn’t it?
So maybe he’s not mad at me anymore. The flight attendant asks us to put our cell phones in airplane mode. But I keep on texting.
Lettie
Are you going back to England?
Liam
No, my mom and sister are coming here.
Lettie
Going to the cabin in Tahoe?
Liam
Yeah, it should be a good Christmas

“It’s the world-famous author!” my father says as he picks me up from the airport a little after midnight.
“Oh! So, you know?”
“Gretta saw September’s interview with you on Talk Talk.”
“TikTok, Dad.”
“Dumb name. Not sure how I feel about seeing a photo of my daughter in bed with some hunky guy. Or knowing that photo is all over the internet. However, I’m stoked to know your book is doing so well. Is that true?”
“Yeah, not world-famous. But I’ve made some money. Also, for the record, I wasn’t in bed with Liam. I mean... I was but not like it looked.” I feel myself turning red. Why am I discussing this with my dad?
“So, what’s going on between you and this guy?”
“I don’t know. Things were going great and then he found out about my book. And he was not happy.”
“Can’t blame the guy?” My dad turns on the windshield wipers to brush off the first flakes of snow.
“I don’t blame him.” I think of Liam’s face as he entered the boardroom; he looked so weary and sad and achingly handsome. “What do you think I should do, Dad?”
“Enjoy your last Christmas at home.”
“What do you mean by last?”
