“All right. Use protection. Don’t get that gorgeous woman pregnant and ruin her flawless abs.”

“Get the hell off my phone, Zea.”

“Javonte, I’m not going to the airport four hours early.” Lily frowns at me though the phone.

“That’s how I travel.”

“You travel like someone’s Pawpaw.”

Dagger to my heart. “Damn, Lily.”

She giggles. “It’s true. That’s way too long. Wasting good getting ready time. You’re gonna have me sitting in the airport for longer than the flight is.

That comment gets me because the flight is about 3.5 hours. “When do you plan to get to the airport?”

“An hour and a half before.”

My heart drops to my ass. “That late?”

“Do you have some hard candy in your pocket?”

Damn, I don’t deserve all this. “I might. Hard candies are long lasting, and they don’t get stuck in your teeth.”

“Dentures?”

“I’m going on this trip without you.” I might be because getting to the airport that close to the flight is just asking to get left behind.

“I’ll get there three hours early.”

‘I’ll get there right on time.”

Our flight leaves at 8am, so it’s not the first flight out in the morning.

I hate standing in lines. I hate the airport. Me and Lily deserve better than this.

I stand outside Lily’s place at 6am. I haven’t called or let her know I’m here. I’m simply waiting for her to step outside. Twenty minutes pass, and she still hasn’t come out.

She was gonna be late as hell to the airport. I imagine her running through the terminals with her luggage behind her and reaching our gate panting.

At 6:30, she finally opens her garage. I’m blocking her driveway.

“Javonte!”

I look at my smart watch and up at her, shaking my head.

“I was going to make it.”

“It’s a 30 minute drive to the airport.”

She shakes her head. “I can do it in 20.”

“Wow. You need Jesus.”

She rolls her eyes. “What are you doing here?”

“Saving us both from the airport.”

“We’re flying private?” Her eyes widen.
