He just stood there until she finally sighed. “Sit down, Diric.” He sat beside her, and she placed the gun and the box on thetable. “The worst thing you could ever do is take this one last chance for granted because I’m not playing with you.”

“I get it. Raven, I know you’re grown and shit, but the see through clothes and shit ma?”

“Am I your girlfriend?” she snapped cutting him off.

“If it’ll make you not wear that shit again, then yes. Be my girl.”

Raven didn’t even think she needed to be in another relationship so soon after Xander. “I haven’t even been single for three months.”

“So, what that mean?”

“Diric…”

He leaned over and kissed her on the lips. “I’m trying to fuck with you, Raven.” He kissed her on the neck. “You and only you.” He gently bit her earlobe. “A nigga not thinking about nobody else but you.” By the time he kissed her lips again, she was sold. Raven was willing to give him one more chance. If he fucked it up, then that was on him.

CHAPTER 24

“I thinkI want to move. My lease is up in less than two months and if I plan on moving, I have to give the leasing office a thirty day notice,” Heiress told Amar. They were cuddled up in his bed looking at a movie.

“This about Kevin getting out?”

Heiress sat up. “Probably. I mean, I’m not really scared, but I don’t like the fact that he knows where I live. I just felt way more at peace when he was locked up.”

Amar sat up as well. “I wasn’t going to tell you this because I didn’t know how it might make you feel, but the other night when me and Diric were playing pool, that nigga approached me. He wanted to buy some work.”

Heiress raised her eyebrows, and she looked slightly nervous. Amar didn’t know why she was nervous, but he didn’t like that shit. The thought of her being afraid of a nigga didn’t sit well with him. “What did you tell him?”

“I told him that you were my lady, then I knocked his ass out.”

Heiress gasped. “Amar, you didn’t.”

“Put that nigga to sleep. He was straight snoring.”

Heiress erupted into laughter. “I know he’s mad as shit but as with most women beaters, he’s not gonna try you. He beat me the way that he did, but I bet he won’t even look your way if he sees you again.”

“On some real shit, Heiress putting that nigga on the ground was light work. The shit was effortless, but if he bothers you in any way. I’m talking about if he breathes on you, I will kill that nigga. I put that on everything holy.”

Heiress swallowed hard because she knew it was true. The darkness that his eyes held intimidated even her in that moment. “Hopefully, it won’t come to that. He knows I’m with you, so he’ll be too scared to fuck with me. I wish I could have seen you knock his ass out.”

“I got you something the other day when I was out with Diric.” Amar eased out of bed and opened the door to his walk-in closet. After he retrieved the box off the top shelf, he handed it to Heiress, and she opened the box excitedly.

“Oh my gosh,” she gushed over the purple white, and chrome .380 that lay inside the box.

“I don’t even know if you know how to handle a gun, but I can teach you. I don’t want you being afraid of Kevin or any other nigga.”

Heiress smiled. She felt safer already because she wouldn’t hesitate to put something hot in a nigga that thought he was about to harm her. Just like she felt safe with Amar. Letting her guard down and giving him a try so far had been working out just fine. The more she was around him and the more he showed her compassion and patience, she realized she never had to worry about him doing the dumb shit that an insecure fuck boy like Keven would do.

“I love it. Thank you.”

“I’m glad.”

Amar’s phone rang, and he looked down and saw that Kirah was calling him for the second time in two days. He had sort of ghosted her, and he knew that wasn’t right. He just didn’t want to have the talk with her in front of Heiress and every time Kirah called, Heiress just so happened to be around.

Heiress’s women’s intuition kicked in. “That Kirah?” It was after midnight, so she concluded that it was probably a female calling.

“It is. I haven’t really spoken to her, and I’m sure she’s confused. I plan on having a conversation with her tomorrow.”

“You have to have this conversation in person?” Heiress asked with a raised brow.
