“I don’t know I have to check my schedule.” He shook his head, and she laughed. “I’m playing. What about this weekend? I don’t have any plans. I want to go to a bar and get drunk.”
“We can do that.”
When he arrived at her house, Raven was surprised when he left the car running and got out to walk her to the door. Before she unlocked the door, she turned toward him, stood on the tips of her toes, and placed her lips on his. Yeah, she made the first move. So, what? When she got past his obnoxious ways, she really liked Diric. A lot. Raven had no desire to play hard to get. She was pleased when he gripped the fabric of her dress at her waist and parted her lips with his tongue. They kissed passionately for all of thirty seconds before she pulled back. She was getting all hot and bothered and for as much as she liked him, she couldn’t fuck him just yet.
“Goodnight,” she stated in a raspy voice.
“Goodnight, shawty.”
Raven went inside the house with the biggest smile on her face.
Yohana looked at the house before her very impressed. In two days, her and Canyon were going on their short trip, but he had invited her over for dinner when he discovered that her son was at a football game at school. Yohana accepted the invitation. His house was amazing. It was along the lines of the kind of house that Morris had. The one that the Feds seized. Zone was doing well before he got picked up, but they weren’t even living like this. They had a cute spacious $300,000 house in a nice neighborhood with other working-class citizens. Their neighbors consisted of teachers, lawyers, plumbers, electricians. The house that Canyon lived in had to be at least $700,000 if not more. He lived in the kind of neighborhood that judges, politicians, doctors, and other very successful people lived in. There was a huge lake in the center of the neighborhood, so that all the houses for at least two blocks had the lake in the backyard. There was also a golf course in the community. Canyon could literally get in his golf cart and drive to the course to play golf.
Yohana rang the bell knowing that Canyon’s wife had to be sick at the fact that she was in prison away from this beautiful home. Canyon was a very sexy man for sure. He was smart, and Yohana was willing to bet that his sex was A-1. If he was her man and he cheated, she would be devastated. She wasn’t sure what she might do, but she damn sure wouldn’t kill his side chick. Her grandmother always taught her to never say never, but this was something that Yohana was confident of. Now, his wife was in prison, and the next bitch was at her house eating dinner. See how that shit wasn’t worth it?
Canyon answered the door looking quite handsome, dressed in a white tank top and black jeans. “What’s up gorgeous?” he greeted her in that deep sexy voice that made her yoni ache.
“Hi.” Yohana stepped inside the foyer and looked around. “I haven’t seen half of this house, but I can tell you have a beautiful home.”
“Thank you. I own two townhouses that I rent out and a few times, I thought about moving into one of them since it’s just me. But I always decide against it. I’m comfortable here.”
Canyon led her into the kitchen. “This is where we’ll be having dinner. This is my amazing chef, Farrah.”
Canyon had really given no thought to the fact that Farrah had asked him out a few weeks ago. But she remembered it well. No matter how slighted she felt, Farrah loved her job, and she wouldn’t exhibit any unprofessional behavior but to say she was jealous would be an understatement. The woman standing beside Canyon with a smile on her face was pretty indeed. Farrah took in the simple nude leggings, nude fitted short sleeved shirt and Yeezy slides that she wore and wondered what made her so special. Pretty women came a dime a dozen. Was itjusther looks? It had to be more than that. She was in his home.
“Nice to meet you,” Farrah smiled. Inside, she felt the exact opposite. Her skills in the kitchen were amazing, and she had more jobs lined up than she had time. If she chose to act out, it wouldn’t be the cause of her going broke, but she just couldn’t do it. She had worked too hard to build her brand and reputation. Obviously, Canyon wasn’t interested in her, and she had to accept that.
“The food smells amazing,” Yohana complimented.
“And it is done. I will be serving you in just a moment. We are starting with a Greek salad, then we have calamari, followed by lobster ravioli, with apple cobbler for dessert.”
“Oh my gosh that sounds mouthwatering,” Yohana gushed. As a true foodie she was excited.
“Would you like some wine?” Canyon offered taking in the way Yohana’s skin glowed. She really was one of those women that looked better without make-up. Her skin looked as if she was radiating.
“Yes, if you have white that would be great.” Yohana sat down at the kitchen table and stared out at the lake.
Even though he had simply invited her over to his house for dinner, Yohana had never been courted on this level. The restaurant where they had their first date was something that Zone couldn’t afford until they had been together for a while. Canyon as a whole was on a level that Zone had never been as far as money and maturity. Canyon knew how to court a grown ass woman. Zone was still the type to do a buffet style restaurant once and after that just want to chill at the house and watch movies. If it wasn’t clubbing, he didn’t show much interest in dressing up and spending money for it. He was hood to the core.
Canyon placed the glass of wine in front of Yohana and took his seat. Farrah made her way over to serve them. “I have to like you because I generally don’t go to cold weather. I’m the type that when it gets too cold here, I fly somewhere warm,” Canyon informed Yohana.
“Well, thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone for me. It is much appreciated. I need to go shopping and get some cute outfits. I’m not that much of a fan of cold weather myself, but the snow is so pretty.”
“Well, make sure you bring a bathing suit because our room has a hot tub in it.”
Farrah rolled her eyes as she cleaned up the kitchen. She had no desire to hear Canyon flirt with this mystery woman. She did the dishes in record speed and was out of the door. Canyon and Yohana chatted nonstop over dinner.
“This was the best meal that I’ve had in a long time. I am stuffed,” Yohana proclaimed as Canyon poured her another glass of wine. “Once I’m on my feet and extra luxuries are in my budget, I will be using her services.”
“Until then, you can eat with me anytime.” Canyon peered into her eyes as he sipped his whiskey. “I’ve been trying not to speak on your husband because it’s not really my place, but he was out here getting work from your uncle, and he didn’t make sure you were straight for a rainy day?”
“The thing that I wanted him to do most was start a college fund for Kari, and he did. He saved money, but it wasn’t as much as he should have. Zone wasn’t rich, but we weren’t struggling. He simply fucked off more money than he saved. He’s been gone for almost a year. When he first got picked up, I had enough money to comfortably get us through nine months. After that, it got tight.”
Canyon felt there was no need to talk about what Zone should have done. The past was gone. If things went well with him and Yohana, he had her from here. She wouldn’t have to sell drugs or stress. “You are so beautiful,” Canyon observed making her blush.
“Thank you. You’re quite handsome yourself.”
Canyon stood up, and Yohana followed suit. They walked into the living room and sat down on his plush leather couch. “I know I don’t have you for that much longer because you have to get your son.”
