“Well, I think now that I’m a skilled hitwoman I should get to come with you.” She sits up, and all I can do is stare at her tits.
“You’re distracting me,” I say before I bend down and suck one of her nipples into my mouth.
“Don’t change the subject,” she scolds and slaps my back. But she lets out a little moan when I pop the nipple out of my mouth, so she’s not completely unfazed. “What if you leave me here again and someone comes back?”
The fact that someone was able to break into my home at all is terrifying. It would take someone with extraordinary skills to do it, and it turns out that’s exactly who broke in. Thank god Leo was playing with a gun when it happened or I might have not gotten here in time. I never thought I’d be thankful she was so careless, but once this is all over, I’m taking her to the firing range to show her how to properly use a firearm.
I think over my options, and going by myself would be the quickest, but I know it would stress her out to be left alone, especially after what happened earlier. Dario is the one that needs to be taken out, and the sooner that’s done, the sooner we can end this war. So against my better judgment, I nod.
“You can come with me,” I say, and she squeals with excitement. “But under a few conditions.”
“Which are?” she asks slowly as her eyes narrow suspiciously.
“You do what I say.”
“Oh, that’s easy,” she says and bounces out of bed. “I love doing what you tell me to do.”
“And you have to stay in the car,” I add, and her shoulders slump.
“But all the fun stuff will happen wherever you go.”
“That’s where you’re wrong.” I smile as I get out of bed and pull her in my arms. “You’re going to be the star of the show.”
“Now you’re talking,” she says right before I bend down and kiss her.
By the time I make love to my fiancée once more and we get dressed, I’m ten minutes late meeting Ernie. As soon as I pull up, he flashes his light once to let me know everything is in position.
“Remember the plan,” I say to Leo, and she nods.
“I’m ready for the signal.” She holds up the gun I gave her and points it at the roof of the car. She has no idea I put blanks in there, but it’s for my own safety as much as it is hers.
“I love you,” I say before I give her one last kiss and slip out of the car.
Ernie had a couple of guys come early and keep watch on this place. Dario has a set Thursday night sleepover with his mistress that he thinks no one knows about. Lucky for us, I was able to get a meeting with his wife, who knew all about it. Once I told her that she would have financial compensation for her help, along with protection from retaliation, she gave us everything we needed to catch Dario with his literal pants down.
As soon as I get to the building, I hear the shouting from inside. Dario isn’t going to come quietly, but that doesn’t matter. All the guys need to do is get him outside. Ernie has all the bosses ready and waiting to watch the show.
A moment later, the doors to the building open, and Dario is being held up by two of my guys as they drag him out. He’s only wearing a pair of boxer briefs that appear to have been put on in a rush since half his ass is still hanging out.
“What the fuck is all this?” Dario spits at me when I step out of the shadows.
“I have evidence that you sent someone to kill my fiancée,” I say loudly enough for all the bosses to hear me.
“Fuck you!” Dario spits.
“This is a printout of a text exchange where Dario demanded the hitman go to my house and kill the woman I love.” I hand the printout over to Ernie, who passes it around to the bosses. “By our own laws, he came for me first, so I have the right to retaliate.”
“He’s right,” I hear one of the bosses agree.
“I want this to be witnessed by everyone here tonight,” I say and take my gun out. “When I do this, it’s over. No more fighting between the families, no more taking sides. We respect the order, and we work together. Agreed?”
I look around and wait for confirmation from everyone before I look back at my car and give Leo the signal. She’s supposed to sneak out of the car, but she manages to trip while she does it and nearly falls to the ground. I have to fight really hard not to smile at how excited she is.
“No, wait. Let’s talk this out. I didn’t mean it,” Dario pleads.
“It’s too late for that,” I tell him as I step back and wait for Leo to come forward. “You should know better than anyone that in this life, there are no second chances.”
Everyone has their eyes on Dario, so they don’t see me move away from the crowd as Leo steps forward and takes my place. It’s not until she speaks that they realize there’s someone new that’s joined the group.
