Chapter Eleven

Over the course of the next week, Sam found herself at the center of both men’s attention. And while she enjoyed every single second, she knew there was a reason they were directing all their energies at her. It was their way of avoiding what had happened between them. As much as she wanted to force them to hash it out, she knew better. Well, thatand the fact they ensured she never had an opportunity.
On Monday, Logan came home while she’d been cooking dinner. She’d known the moment she saw him that he was on edge. It explained the reason he had fucked her right there at the kitchen counter, bending her over without preamble and taking her from behind.
On Tuesday, Elijah had insisted on taking her to dinner, just the two of them. Their conversation had primarily remained about work and an upcoming trip that he had to go on. It ended with him fucking her on the washing machine before they made it all the way into the house.
On Wednesday, Logan stayed at the office with her when she had to work late. She’d felt the tension in him, offered to release the pressure during the drive home. They never made it that far because he ended up making her come with his mouth while she was laid out on her desk.
On Thursday, Elijah met her for lunch before she drove him to the airport. Rather than let her drop him at the door like she usually did, he’d made her park in the short-term lot, then made her come on his fingers before he kissed her thoroughly and left her reeling.
On Friday, before Logan could get his hands on her, she informed him she was meeting Sierra for dinner, just the two of them. He’d told her to have fun and promised to be awake when she got home. She had no doubt that he would be.
“All right, girl, tell me what’s going on,” Sierra said once they’d been seated, their drink orders taken.
“Where do I start?” she said on an exhale, relaxing against the booth, eager for that drink. “I feel like I’ve been run through a deep-clean wash cycle. Ten times.”
Sierra laughed, her crystal-blue eyes dancing with amusement. “I know that feeling. I’ve been on the receiving end myself. Does it have something to do with what happened at our party last weekend?” She leaned in, her left eyebrow slowly arching as she said, “I didn’t know they … uh…”
“They didn’t. Until recently.” Sam thanked the waiter when he delivered their drinks. “Can you give us a few minutes?”
“Sure thing. I’ll swing back by,” he said kindly before bolting to the next table.
Sam took a gulp of her drink, gauging how generous they’d been with the vodka. Unless it had been the whole bottle, she doubted it was enough. She took another sip, this one as a backup test. Eh. It would do. If she had about five of them.
“When did it start?” Sierra asked. “Between them?”
“Remember that trip we took to Colorado last year?”
“Your pre-holiday vacation. Sure.” Her eyes widened. “It’s beenthatlong? And you didn’t tell me?”
“There was nothing to tell.” That was mostly true. “Nothing really happened.”
“Why do I get the feeling you’re glossing over the details?”
“They kissed,” she admitted, keeping her voice low as she leaned closer. “We played a dice game, kinda like Spin the Bottle, I guess. They had to kiss. They did.”
Sierra sat back as though that was the most shocking thing she’d ever heard. “How was it?”
“For me, it was great,” she admitted, laughing. “I wasn’t the one doing something outside my comfort zone.”
Sierra laughed. “But it was hot, right?”
“So freaking hot,” she whispered. “God, I thought I would spontaneously combust.”
“They’ve never done that before?”
“Never.”
Sierra smiled. “I figure it’s safe to assume you instigated it?”
Sam cocked an eyebrow in that way that said,What do you think?A move she’d learned from Logan.
“Did you suspect they wanted something … from each other?”
“No,” she said, still feeling the remnants of guilt that had plagued her despite her curiosity. “I kinda forced their hand.”
