“Wherever we are going, I hope we make it there in one piece,” I mutter.

She lets out another surprisingly disturbing giggle and barely slows down as we enter a commercial area. I frown, looking around as dark block after block full of weathered buildings and dilapidated chain-link fences pass by.

I cannot fathom where we could be going in this industrial zone that has seen better days. We make a few more turns and I see a sea of cars stretching out before us.

Lilith drives straight toward the building, and at the last second, drifts the car right up to the front entrance like we’re in some high-speed car chase movie. I’m too stunned to unbuckle for a moment.

I’ve been on roller coasters with less speed, turns, and drama. By the time I get my seatbelt off and fall out of the low car, she’s already tossing her keys to one of the enormous guards that stands at the door.

I feel like a superstar as another one of the beefy dudes stops the line of people streaming into the venue and unhooks the velvet rope to allow us to pass through the plain metal doors.

So many movies are whizzing through my head right now as I try to process what the hell I’m walking into at Lilith’s side. Is it some type of mysterious and secret club?

That doesn’t fit the line of people outside. Maybe an underground boxing ring or music performance? Oh my God, what if it’s a sex club? I’ve read about those.

I follow her barely clad swaying hips past more guards and through another set of nondescript metal doors until we walk into an interior that in no way matches the outside or the surrounding neighborhood. I know my mouth is hanging open as I look at Lilith.

“Welcome to Synd,” she purrs as she leads me into an enormous casino.

Extravagance greets my eyes no matter where I look, from the chandeliers overhead, to the black and gold decor with hints of deep red, and the staff in tuxedos.

The guests are an eclectic mix of people, every race and age, dressed in everything from evening wear to sunglasses and flat brimmed hats at the poker tables.

I fall behind by a few paces as I gawk at the surroundings, hurrying to catch back up to Lilith to avoid getting lost in the maze-like floor plan. I had been to the casinos once in Atlantic City when I turned twenty-one, but it was nothing like this.

She effortlessly glides in her five-inch heels to the elevators, and I’m again thankful I had stood firm in my choice of footwear. I wouldn’t have made it from the car to here in the shoes she had wanted me to wear.

We step into an elevator and start descending. I can’t help but smile, thinking of my time with Luke in the elevator.

“Synd has everything your dark little heart could ever desire.”

“But what is it?”

“Everything,” she declares, giving me her feline smile and wide eyed yellow-green gaze that sizzles sin under the surface. “Five-star dining, luxury accommodations, casino, dance club, fight club.”

“Wow, that’s a lot of clubs,” I reply lamely.

Lilith taps one long red pointed fingernail against her perfect pout and pretends to think. After a dramatic pause she says, “Oh yeah, and a sex club.”

Just then, the doors open, and she stalks out. I quickly follow, trying to digest her last statement.

“Lilith,” I hiss. “Did you say sex club?” I squeak out the words, fervently hoping she has not brought me to a sex club. Wait, is Luke at a sex club?

Shit. This night could go south really quick. What if he wants me to dothingsin a sex club? Or even worse, what if he is there with someone else? My stomach plummets at the thought.

“Don’t be a baby.” Lilith looks at me over her shoulder and winks. She continues to walk down the short hallway toward a set of red velvet double doors bracketed by more enormous bouncers.

“Lilith. Lilith! Stop, I can’t go to a sex club!” My voice starts as a yelled whisper but slowly goes up in volume with incredulity, squeaking on the sex club portion.

I should stop, turn around, and call for a ride. Get home and put on some damn underwear.

I try to talk myself down, thinking, big dick energy, you can do this.Besides, surely she is joking. But would it really be surprising, considering we are under an illegal casino right now? At least, I assume it is illegal.

The enormous bouncers open the doors for her, and I’m hit with the pounding bass of dance music. Ahead, I can see club lights and fog, and I’ve never been so thankful to see a mass of writhing bodies on a dance floor. Everyone has on at least some level of clothing, so I assume this isn’t the sex club after all.

I follow Lilith along the wall and up a spiral staircase after yet another bodyguard admits us. I wonder at the level of security here, but I guess underground clubs may draw the wrong type of people.

She leads us to a red velvet booth on a balcony looking over the dance floor below. The sound is a little less likely to induce bleeding ears up here. A hot waiter comes by, not in a tuxedo. In fact, he’s not in much of anything.
