“Tafari, my wife loves your restaurant. Every time I turn around she ordering it fa delivery or having me pick it up. Her ass gonna turn into a damn shrimp.” He chuckled with his words.
“Dats what’s up. We appreciate da business. Tell her we gotta couple new dishes we ’bout ta add to da menu next week.” I kept it cool.
There was no reason for me to have an attitude with him. I had no beef with this man, because at the end of the day, I got the prize. Pril was my woman and my forever. It seemed like dude had beef with me which was understandable. I had what he wanted.
Derrick nodded. “Oh, yeah, I’ll make sure I tell her. She’s somewhere ’round her wit’ her cousin. I know her pregnant ass is gonna be happy ta hear that. My daughta got her eating like a fat girl.”
That’s what this was about. My eyes panned over to Pril who had no real reaction, or at least she didn’t in front of this fuck nigga. I knew well enough that my baby had on her poker face. She really thought that she wouldn’t be able to have children. I knew for a fact that the shit bothered her. I, on the other hand, wasn’t worried about that shit. One way or another, she would have my baby.
I played my card before I glanced at my cousin. He looked bothered, which I knew he would be. He hadn’t liked Derrick since high school. He had always been on some fuck shit from what I heard. He was slick with it like a little bitch instead of being a man about his shit.
With my eyes still on my cousin, I responded to Derrick. “Congratulations on ya daughta. I know when I have my lil baby, I’m gonna be happy as a muthafucka.”
Derrick laughed under his breath before his eyes fell on Pril. He spoke to me with his eyes on her. “Who you ga have a baby wit’? Pril, ain’t ya pussy still broken?”
I am officially bothered! My cards hit the table right before I flipped that bitch. I was on this niggas’ ass. He had me and mine fucked up. I ain’t never played with fuck niggas, and I wouldn’t start now. “Bitch boy, you got me fuck up. Who da fuck you playin’ wit’, ho ass nigga?”
Whoever the bitch nigga was with Derrick tried to jump in, but Jordan was on his ass. I tried to Mayweather, Ali, and Tyson this bitch into the fucking tiled floor. His attempt to fight back was cute, but his ass must have had asthma. He was struggling to breathe.
“Stop! Stop! Get off of him. Pril, bitch, get him,” a female yelled in the background of all of the chaos.
Just as security pulled me up off Derrick’s punk ass, I heard my baby’s voice. “Girl, fuck you and that bitch nigga. You can play the game but remember your face ain’t pregnant.”
Yeah, let me chill befo’ my girl punch dis bitch in her mout’.My security asked me if I was cool. After one look at how fucked up Derrick was, I told him that I was good. That nigga was over there stumbling like a meth head drunk. “Is you cool, fuck nigga? Don’t ever play wit’ my fuckin’ wife, ho nigga.”
Who I assumed was his wife was over on the side crying in the arms of some female. She was hollering like I shot the nigga or some shit. “Girl, shut the fuck up!” Nicole yelled at her.
Derrick’s wife bucked, but the woman who held her stopped her. “Shut the fuck up, bitch! That bitch is just mad because her broken pussy can’t have a baby and I can. I had his babies, bitch! Be mad.”
Pril laughed. “I’m not about to argue with you over a fuck nigga when I got a whole good ass man right here. You better get your man to the hospital. He look like he’s about to have an asthma attack.”Well, I guess the nigga do got asthma.
I wasn’t worried about twelve or anything. Security knew to escort him and his crew of bitches out. “Baby, are you alright?” Pril asked after I walked into her space.
I wrapped my arm around her waist, then kissed her lips. “Pril, dat ho ain’t even pinch me. How dat man talk all dat and can’t even fight? I know you wit’ me now, but we ga have ta talk about yo’ past decision-making skills, love.”
She gawked at me for a split second, then erupted in laughter. “I can’t stand you. How do you go from beating someone up to making jokes?”
My shoulders lifted to my ears. “Shit, I ain’t get beat up, so it is what it is. Let’s get the fuck outta here.”
Chapter 6
Pril
Some Time Later
What Am I Going To Do . . .
I sat in the middle of my bed with my legs crossed. I’d been frozen in the same place for what felt like hours. I couldn’t believe I was this fucking callous.Pregnant.This test had to have been wrong, but were the other five?
Yes, I missed a couple birth control pills, but I tracked my ovulation. At least, I thought I did.We should have been using condoms. All this could have been avoided if I were more responsible. This was what I didn’t want. Who would want a pregnancy that they knew they were going to lose?Fuck my life.
“Pril, baby!” Tafari’s voice knocked me out of my despair. “I’ve been callin’ your name since I came through da door. You good, love?”
I couldn’t say anything. All I could do was stare at him. How would I tell the man that I loved that I was pregnant, but it probably wouldn’t end with a baby? His forehead creased, and his face tightened. His steps toward me were slow and methodical, as was pretty much everything that he did. When he finally got to the bed, he stared at the six pregnancy tests on the bed.
He picked one up and stared at it for a moment before he leaned on the bed to look at the rest. Seconds later, a smile appeared. In a quiet voice, he said, “Fuck yeah!”
His arms engulfed me. The weight of his body caused me to fall back. He was so happy, and I had to be the one to break his heart. “Tafari, wait, wait.”
