A rumbling sound interrupted the huffs and puffs; the gate was opening. “Stop messing with my cousins, prospect.”

I popped my head to the side from the wolf wall. The man coming from the clubhouse was wearing a leather cut and an all-black riding outfit, tattoos showing from his sleeves, his golden amber eyes familiar. He was a Beastly for sure.

The vampire guards laughed and their bodies loosened up as they made way for us. “Sorry, Mad Dog. Prez said to rile them up a little, just for kicks.”

Mad Dog snorted and jumped into a brotherly hug with my Beastly twins. The three exchanged pleasantries—and by that I meant a chorus of swears—and then Mad Dog stared at me, his laughter cut short.

A sudden awareness of my looks hit me. I shifted into my full human form, my heart still racing; Mad Dog was one of the twin babies’ father. I didn’t know how he’d react around me. Besides, as I’d heard, he was literally mad.

“Professor Ferro,” he said. “Never had the pleasure of talking to you in person before.”

I couldn’t tell if he was genuine or being sarcastic. “My time at the university was brief, so I’ve never had the pleasure of teaching you. But I’m sure Professor Legend has been amazing inside the classroom andoutside.” I stuck out a hand. “Please, call me Belle.”

He glanced at my hand and back up at me. Awesome. He was gonna embarrass me and not—

All of a sudden, I found myself crushed into his musky embrace. I gasped, my eyes wide at Kayden, but then I chuckled, my worries set aside.

Kayden slugged Mad Dog’s back. “Hey. Easy, Dog.”

Mad Dog didn’t move. He pecked my cheek, getting another gasp from me. “Thank you for saving my baby, Belle.”

The heartfelt words almost brought me to tears. I couldn’t speak. I just nodded.

He was yanked off me. Then Kayden’s grip was squeezing the back of Mad Dog’s neck. “You could thank her from here just fine, asshole.”

“Yeah. Now, we need a word with your old lady. Is she in?” Alec asked.

Laughing, Mad Dog gestured at the clubhouse. “Follow me.”

I held my breath as we crossed the front yard and stepped onto the patio, hoping the overwhelming smell of burned rubber, beer, sweat and blood would be better inside. My hopes were smashed, though, as we entered the lounge. The stiff, musky air and metallic blood scents were intensified by the smell of an ongoing orgy.

I wasn’t one to cringe at voyeurism—not anymore—but the two on the leather couch on the right were a vampire and a human, and he was giving her a foreplay bite.

My tongue darted out, licking my lips, and my breath hitched. The air around me became even denser, a thirst burning my throat, a hunger clenching low. My whole body was an unmoving jumble of need.

“Guys, c’mon. Vixen’s room is upstairs,” Mad Dog said.

Alec held my hand. “Let’s go, babe.”

My feet wouldn’t listen. My eyes pinned to the human’s neck.

“Uh… Guys, make it quick. I need to get going. Things are gonna get hot in here. I’m still not so strong around the stench,” Mad Dog said.

Me neither.

“Belle?”

Kayden’s voice distracted me for a second. “Huh?” It came out as a moan.

“Shit. Your fangs are showing, sweetheart.”

My tongue swiped across them. My mind was immersed in images all beautifully red. “So?”

“Fuck,” he said, and the next moment, his arms were under my butt, and he threw me over his shoulder caveman style. “Let’s go.”

I swallowed a yelp as he took my famished ass up. My Alpha to the rescue.

All footsteps stopped, and Mad Dog said, “Everybody is inside.”
