“Hey, I know what you’re trying to do, but enough for now.” Shrugging out of his embrace, I pushed myself up. “Get dressed. We have somewhere to go.”
“Where to?” Kayden asked.
I took a deep breath. “I need answers. If the devil and the angel aren’t here to give them, then I have to find them somewhere else.”
“You mean you wanna help Asher at the library?”
“No. We’re going to visit Vixen Legend.”
Chapter 11
Belle
“This is a terrible idea,” Alec said as he pulled over in front of the Blood Demons’ clubhouse.
Kayden hopped out of the truck and opened the door for me. “They have beef with Damien, not with Belle or us.”
“They have beef with Damien because he tried to steal those babiesforBelle. You really think we’re welcome here?”
Biting the inside of my cheek, I slid out of the truck. “Don’t forget I’m the one who stopped him. I think we’re more than welcome here.”
“And Terror and Mad Dog are our cousins,” Kayden added.
“Okay, but what about the bloodsucker Prez and VP?” Alec climbed out of the truck and reached my side. “And your stepson?”
I arched a brow. “Stepson?”
“That demon, Damien’s bastard.”
“You mean Inferno?”
“Yeah. Aren’t you his wicked stepmother? The wicked stepmother of all of Damien’s unwanted offspring now?”
“Alec, now is not the time to be a dick,” Kayden warned. “If you don’t wanna be here, just fuck off.”
“The fuck I will. I’m never leaving Belle’s side. You fuck off.”
My eyes rolled, and I just marched to the gates and the not so cute couple of tattooed vampires standing there. “I’m here to see Vixen Legend. Please tell her Isabell—”
“We know who you are,” one of them said. “I have to check with Prez first before I let you in.”
“Is this parasite for real?” Alec grumbled as he flanked me with his brother.
I shot him a death glare. When his eyes rolled to the other side, I switched my stare to the gate guards. “Of course, take your time.”
For the two long seconds the guards used their sire bond to ask permission, the animosity flaring off the bodies of the vampires and the werewolves fogged around us like an ominous cloud. Then one of the guards finally broke the menacing silence. “You can come in. Alone.”
“She’s not going anywhere without us,” Kayden stated, taking a protective step between me and the vampire.
“Kayden, it’s okay,” I said.
“No, it’s not.” He gave me his Alpha tone and stare, and I had no choice but to submit. “We’re all going in. Now.”
My heart raced as snarls from both teams rose. The last thing I wanted right now was another rivalry fight. I was here to find answers, not to create another feud.
The wolves pushed me behind them and formed their own gate in front of me. As much as I loved how protective they were of me, I was fully capable of protecting myself. I was aBelle. TheBelle.
Instinctively, my horns sprouted off my forehead, my hands clawed up and my fangs protruded.
