“Go ahead, Morgan. Ask me how it went.” Lacey tried to contain hersmile.

Morgan sighed before throwing out her arms. “How did it go, Lacey?” she practicallygrowled.

Lacey kept her features blank for as long as possible before squealing, “Great!” She kicked her legs, which were still dangling over her bed in a giddy show ofsatisfaction.

Morgan sat impossibly still, her eyes narrow. “Really?”

“Yes, really!” Lacey hoped Morgan could see the warmth and joy that was spreading through her as she thought aboutTrevor.

“Oh, thank goodness!” Morgan’s shoulders sagged in relief. “You have no idea how much I needed that. Not only is Declan harassing me, but my phone wouldn’t stop buzzing last night. I set up a lot of first dates yesterday, and there are a lot of unsatisfied customers. I just want to hide under a rock untilit’sover.”

Lacey hopped out of bed and walked over to Morgan. She wrapped her friend into a tight hug. “Well, now you know you have at least two contentcustomers.”

“Two?”

“Me and Trevor, silly.” Lacey laughed. “This isn’t the kind of business that can have an odd number of people who walk awayhappy.”

Morgan opened her mouth like she wanted to argue, but quickly closed it. It was several seconds before she finally spoke. “Seriously, Lacey. You have no idea how great it is to hear your date went well, even if I messed up the match. I was sure you’d be begging to get set up with Pax this morning, and honestly, I wasn’t sure how I was going to work out thoselogistics.”

“Why?” Lacey asked coyly. “Because he had a gooddatetoo?”

“I don’t know.” Morgan shrugged. “I haven’t heard from him or his date yet. I’m not really sure what to expect. I’m just holding my breath waiting for people to yellatme.”

“But I’m not yelling. And I’m happy to tell you that Trevor and I are going on another date in a coupleofdays.”

“Seriously?”

Why was it so hard for Morgan to believe Lacey and Trevor actually hit it off? Wasn’t that her hope in all of this? “Yes, seriously. He asked me to go get some pizza in a couple of days, and Isaidyes.”

Morgan closed her laptop and grabbed her bag, the one she always carried with her. She stood up and looked Lacey in the eyes. “I really am sorry to hear this, but you’ll have to tell me more later. I’ve got class and really need to make sure I don’t mess my gradesuptoo.”

“Don’t worry,” Lacey said with a playful wink. “I know whereyoulive.”

Morgan rolled her eyes, but made an exaggerated kiss sound as she walked outthedoor.

“Later,Babe.”

Lacey watched her walk out, and let out a deep breath as the latch closed with a quiet click. Lacey didn’t want to admit it, but she was happy to have the room to herself. She wanted to look at the picture of Trevor again, but was too embarrassed to do it in front of Morgan—even after admitting the datewentwell.

She walked over to the bulletin board and found Trevor’s picture right away. She pulled it from the board and, feeling slightly silly, pinned it right next to hers. The pictures overlapped slightly, but it made it so their faces looked like they were almost touching. Lacey liked the way they looked together. She took a step back to admire the happycouple.

It made her even more excited about their second date. And there would definitely be a third, and a fourth, and afifth...

But as she backed away from the bulletin board, another photograph caught her eye. She immediately went back to the board and ripped the picture off. It was Conrad, the guy from the night before. What were the chances she’d see his face in her room not even twenty-four hours after their encounter? And why hadn’t he said he was already in the Date Maker database when she mentioned ittohim?

She flipped the picture over, despite knowing Morgan didn’t write notes on them. So she was pleasantly surprised when she saw Morgan’s familiar scrawl on theoppositeside.

DONOTSETUP!

Lacey turned the picture back over and stared at the smiling face. She knew she recognized Conrad’s dark hair and playful brown eyes. She hadn’t noticed him on the board before, not consciously at least, but something deep down must have memorized hishandsomeface.

Wait.

Conrad might be attractive, but she had no right admiring his picture when she had another date with Trevor coming up. She needed to take whatever was developing between the two of them seriously, and not go back to her boy-crazy ways. It wasn’t right or fair toanyone.

And it most definitely wasn’t going to do anything to help her find hersoulmate.

Not only that, Morgan made an effort to set everyone in her database up with the perfect match. If she didn’t even try to make a date with this dude, he must be a real jerk. The fact that she thought he was hot only punctuated that point. Lacey always went for thejerks.
