Something I never thought I would say about him.
“You're finally awake?” He appeared in the doorway, a towel perilously low on his hips. Water dripped down his throat and snaked down his bare chest, and my eyes followed it before I could help myself.
He really was delicious without clothes on. Of course, he looked delectable when dressed as well. I let myself smile. I just preferred him naked and ideally on top of me.
Fang chuckled, reading my thoughts clearly as he studied my face. “I thought you were going to sleep the day away.”
“You should have woken me, I...” The words died on my lips as he stalked towards me. Suddenly my mouth was dry.
“Why would I wake you, Gypsy? I kind of like having you here asleep, waiting for me...” he crawled up my body, leaving me no option but to fall back on the pillows, “...when I get back.”
“You’ve been somewhere and come back?” I couldn't help but ask.
“Yes.” Playfully, he nipped at my shoulder, and I felt myself melt under him. Just for a second, I let myself enjoy the feel of his much bigger body pressing me down, and then I shook myself.
“You should have woken me so I could have headed home.”
“That was exactly why I didn’t wake you.” He settled himself down on his forearms, his face hovering over mine. “Because you would make some excuse as to why you had to go home. And…”
Giggling, I wrapped my arms around his neck. I wasn’t sure when it had happened, but something had changed between us. It wasn’t purely physical any longer, although that was most definitely there. Hell, I could feel him pressing against my hip, thick and impossibly hard.
“I do need to go home soon. Woofy is all on his own.”
I watched as Fang's eyes rolled at the mention of my giant but extremely soppy dog.
“You and that damn dog.” He shook his head.
How could I explain it to him? That my dog was my life. He had been with me through some really tough times. He had never let me down. He was the only stable thing in my life. The only thing I had ever been able to count on.
I opened my mouth to tell him that and shut it again. Fang was staring down at me with the smallest of smiles on his face.
“Woofy is fine. Bobby was with him last night. But if you are desperate to get home then I will take you in a little while. I’m not sure if I’m happy with you being at The Drunken Otter by yourself after what happened yesterday, so maybe we could bring him here.” He mulled it over. “He doesn’t sleep in our bed though, Gypsy, I put my foot down on that.”
“Bobby is here?”
“Was here, yes. Early this morning”
I pushed at his chest, trying to sit up. It was like he was an immovable mountain. Capturing my hands, he forced them down on either side of my head. “What’s going on with you now?”
I struggled against him. “What did you do to him, Fang? If you have hurt him...”
“Why would I hurt your dog?” Genuinely puzzled, Fang frowned.
“Not Woofy, Bobby. If you have hurt him...”
Fang's eyes flashed angrily. “Bobby is fine. We had a little chat and he went on his merry way. Anyone would think you don’t trust me, Sunflower?”
The smirk was back, the one I hated.
“Nothing has ever happened between Bobby and me.”
“I know, believe me, if I thought it had he wouldn’t have walked out of here alive.” Fang's brown eyes darkened. “I don’t share, Sunflower. Not ever. And I’m a jealous man so remember that, ok?”
I frowned up at him. Why did that sound oddly like a thinly veiled threat?
“What is that meant to mean?”
“It means that once I’ve decided you're mine, then you are mine. You decide to tease and flirt with another man, I am going to make him hurt. Do you understand what I’m saying?” He softened his words with a kiss to the corner of my mouth as I continued to stare at him with my mouth open. “You’re mine now, Sunflower.”
