Someone was hammering the shit out of my closed door. Loud and insistent.

Cursing, I swung my legs from the warmth of the bed. Gypsy moaned softly as I slipped away from her. Her hand reached for me.

Without thinking, I bent to press a chaste kiss on her forehead. “Go back to sleep.”

Where the sudden sweetness had come from I didn’t know. But I didn’t regret it.

Something had changed between me and Gypsy, maybe because she was finally being honest with me, or maybe it was simply because I was letting myself actually feel something.

Someone knocked again, louder this time.

“Alright, I’m coming.” Padding naked to the door, I swung it open, using my bulk to hide whoever was knocking from seeing the room behind me.

“Took you long enough.” Hansel’s face was pensive. His eyes flicked past me and I moved myself to block his view more fully. Not that it mattered, he had already seen.

Glancing behind me, I cursed myself for not making sure Gypsy was fully covered. One bare leg was almost fully on display, her arm thrown up above her head, lifting her breasts almost free from the blankets.

His eyes swivelled back to my face, a knowing grin splitting open his face.

“Fuck off,” I snarled before he could open his mouth and say anything. “What do you want?”

I wanted to add that it best be important, but something kept me silent. I wanted to crawl back under the sheets with my sunflower, sleep a little longer and then wake up together.

There was nothing better than sleepy morning sex when you were both relaxed.

Although I would have put money on the fact that all sex with Gypsy was going to be good.

There was just something about her that called to me.

A sweetness that she tried her hardest to hide under her prickly exterior. And now I’d had a taste, I wasn’t going to be able to let her go.

One fucking taste and I was addicted to her.

“Yeah, it’s important I mean.” Hansel strained to see past my shoulder again, and I growled out a warning. He should’ve known better than to try and catch a glimpse of her. More than anyone else Hansel should know how jealous I got.

I was protective over what was mine.

And Gypsy was mine, whether she liked it or not.

“If you’re busy...” Hansel chuckled as I glared at him. “And it looks like you are, then I can sort it out.”

“What is it?” I was tired of the conversation already. He needed to either spit it out and tell me what the hell was happening or let me go back to bed.

“Bobby is here, demanding to know what’s happened to Gypsy. I know you said you wanted to…have a little chat with him. But I can do it if you like.”

I paused. I did want to speak to him, Hansel was right about that, but in a totally different way than he thought. I believed Gypsy when she said that nothing had happened between her and Bobby. But I also knew she had told him more about her past than she would ever willingly tell me.

I didn’t want to pry, but I did want answers.

It was pretty clear that my girl was running from something bad, and I couldn’t protect her if I didn’t know.

“No, it's fine. I’ll come now.” I took a step out of the door, realising I was still naked when Hansel started laughing. “Ok, maybe some clothes first.”

“Maybe that’s a good idea. And a shower.” Hansel’s nose wrinkled. “You stink of sex... You and Gypsy kiss and make up then?”

I shrugged as I started to gather up my clothes. Not bothering with underwear, I pulled up my jeans. “Yeah.” Glancing up, I caught him staring at the bed. “And stop looking at her.”

“You like her, huh?”
