“You aint going nowhere with them.” Jahrein said again. “You left them for a whole damn month. So, don’t act like you want them now!”
“Raven, y’all need to leave the kids in here with me and have a talk in private.” Red suggested as if she hadn’t just heard her son yell at the top of his lungs.
“I don’t have anything to say to him. He is just the kids’ daddy. He needs to sign these divorce papers that I have in my purse.”
“What? You got me fucked up. I aint signing shit.” he snapped. “Til the casket drops.” He reminded me.
“Y’all need to calm down in front of these kids.” Red reminded us.
“You need to tell your son that.”
“She don’t need to tell me shit.”
“Raven, since y’all refuse to be adults about this, I might as well put it on out there. I knew all about Jahrein Junior.” Red admitted.
I couldn’t believe that everyone was keeping me in the dark. Red knew all along and that meant that Ray-Ray probably knew too. And that bitch Tyra didn’t even have enough respect to letmyJunior be the only one to carry on his father’s name.
“That’s nice to know, Red.” I smiled to keep from crying.
“It’s not even like that, Raven. Jahrein told me about the girl when she was pregnant. He didn’t think that the baby was his so I told him to get a paternity test. The baby turned out to be his but he didn’t know how to tell you. So, he has just been taking care of his responsibility. He don’t want that girl. All he takes care of is his son. She live in a apartment on the southwest side and drives a Taurus, for God’s sake. He don’t do the things for her that he does for you.”
“Is any of that supposed to make this better? He still cheated. He made another child. He created a situationfor himself that I want no parts of. He was out here fucking raw and could’ve brought me and my babies back anything. I don’t want him no more.”
“I didn’t fuck her raw.”
I rolled my eyes.
“We can make this work, baby. We made a vow of better or for worse, remember?” Jahrein had the nerve to ask me.
“How can you fix your mouth to throw vows in this? You wasn’t thinking about no vows when you made that bastard child! I don’t want that little boy anywhere near my kids. Go start a new family with his mama.” I spat. “Opps! I forgot, you already did!”
“Raven, don’t say that.” Red said.
“No, fuck that. I mean that shit. I hate you, Jahrein. If you were on fire I wouldn’t even piss on you. I don’t want shit to do with you. I can’t stand to look at your ugly ass face. You make me sick to my stomach. Just leave me and my kids alone and go on with your life. Let me clean up the years of damage that you’ve put on me.”
“That’s how you feel?” Jahrein asked me as if his feelings were hurt.
“Yes, that’s exactly how I feel.” I rolled my eyes at him.
“She saying that out of hurt, Jahrein.” Red told him.
“No I’m not. I mean it.” I alleged. I don’t know why Red insisted on keeping us together. And why in the hell was she trying to spare his feelings?
“You can honestly sit there and say that you don’t love me?” Jahrein asked me with the most pitiful look on his face.
“Pretty much.” I shrugged nonchalantly. “I don’t think that I ever really loved you. You just put me in a fucked up position, and I was never able to recover. Until now. Eyes wide open on your ass.”
“So all these years have been a lie?”
“Now you know how it feels, huh?” I smiled trying to crush his very being. I wanted him to feel low just how he’d made me feel.
“Alright. It’s all good.” he chuckled deviously as he nodded his head. “Okay, bitch, so you never loved me, huh?” he asked as he stormed out the front door. I got up to see what he was trying to do.
Jahrein opened the tail of the Escalade and pulled out a steal bat. He then walked over to the Benz and stood in batting position.
“You better not!” I shouted.
He spat on the ground, and then began smashing my windows out. “What’s the matter? Huh, Raven? I don’t hear you talking.” he gritted as he swung the bat. One by one he broke each window out as I cringed. Me and the kids just stood and watched their daddy tare my vehicle up. After he was done breaking out all the windows he started slashing my tires with a pocket knife.
