“Shan, how many people you got in front of me?” I asked as I took a seat in the waiting area.
“You’re next.” She replied as she straightened a girl’s hair.
Since, I couldn’t talk on my cell phone I decided to skim through some magazines while I waited. Until a group of chicks walked in, making a bunch of noise. Some of the faces were familiar while others weren’t. There was one girl that seemed real familiar, but I just couldn’t place her face.
She was light skinned with a huge round pregnant belly. She gave me a stank look as she sat two seats down from me. I gave her a fucked up look right back. She and her little friends were whispering and staring. It went on for a few minutes before I just had to say something.
“Uh, is there a fucking problem?” I asked the entire group. This got the attention of everybody in the shop.
“Excuse you.” The pregnant broad, said as she sat up in her seat.
“Y’all keep looking at me like y’all have a problem.” I spoke calmly.
“Little girl, please.” The pregnant bitch spoke up again.
“I fight pregnant bitches.” I warned her as I stood.
“Hey, hey Raven. Y’all chill out over there. I’m trying to make my money and keep the peace.” Shan interrupted.
I took a seat. “I’m good. I was just trying figure out why these broads were looking at me like I got shit on my face.”
“Red, mama, you good over there? It aint no problems is it?” Shan asked the pregnant broad.
“No, Shan you know that I’m chilling. I just came to get my hair done to look good for my baby daddy. That’s it. He aint send me in here to be arguing with broads while I’m carrying his seed.” The bitch went on and on. I didn’t know for whose benefit because I didn’t know who her baby daddy was and didn’t give a damn. Maybe he was the next big d-boy, but I personally didn’t give a lovely fuck.
The pregnant bitch was going on and on about how her baby daddy did this for her and did that for her, and I was trying my best to tune her out. I was doing so good of a job of it that I barely heard my name being called.
“I said Raven.” Somebody repeated.
I looked up and it was Shell standing right near the entrance of the door. She was looking cute in her tight denim jeans but she seemed much slimmer since thelast time I’d seen her. I started thinking if it was the cocaine that had her so thin.
“Huh?” I asked her.
“I said look at what the cat done drug in.” she said as she sat right next to me. She turned and spoke to the pregnant girl. “What’s up, bitch?”
I didn’t really know what to say to Shell. The last I heard Jahrein had got some girls to jump her and I was left feeling responsible. “You about to get your braids touched up?” I asked her trying to make friendly conversation.
“Yeah.” She sighed as she patted her hair. “So, why haven’t you called me, tramp?”
“Girl, you know that shit has been hectic for me. With those kids I can barely think straight.”
“Stop getting pregnant every damn year, then.” Somebody mumbled. I glanced around the room and had no clue as to who said that.
“Anyways.” Shell giggled. “Where is your bitch ass man at? You know that he tried to get some broads to fight me, huh?”
“Yeah, I heard.”
“So, why didn’t you call me after youheardthat?”
“Man, don’t try to put me in the middle of that shit. You know damn well that I didn’t tell him to do some anything like that. I didn’t want no more confusion so I just left the shit alone. And besides, if you wanted to know the deal you could have called me. My number’s still the same.”
“Whatever.” She sighed as she rolled her eyes. Then she threw me for a loop when she got up and moved one seat over so that she was sitting next to the pregnant girl.
I was like fuck the both of those bitches. I wasn’t about to kiss Shell’s ass. If she wanted to talk to those bitches, then it was all fine by me. But the bitch was still getting under my skin as she talked loudly. I knew that it was all for me.
“Yeah, it went down at the club the other night. Everybody was there. Amir, Tony, Jared, andJahrein was there. We did it big in VIP. Yeah, you know that me and Jah been squashed that shit about when he wanted everybody to get at me. That nigga know that I can’t make a grown ass woman do nothing that she don’t want to.” Shell said to the group of girls.
“Jahrein's ass is stupid. He was over there by the house the other day outside playing with Melissa’s little boy throwing eggs and shit.” Some other bitch spoke up.
