Demi waved me over. “Hope you don’t mind us crashing here a few days. Luka got us in so we could watch his fights, but we’re posing as feeders so his biatch doesn’t get suspicious that you’re the only one.”

I chuckled at her term for Cassara. “Werewolf feeders? Analphafeeder? Is anyone really going to believe that?” I doubted it.

Demi shrugged. “Vampires can feed from any race and they are kind of stupid. They won’t recognize my scent with these on.” She held up her wrists and I saw two metal cuffs there.

I frowned. “Those make them not recognize you?”

Sage rolled her eyes. “Okay, it’s a long story, but here is the deal. Demi is a split shifter. Her wolf jumps out of her body like a ghost and can walk through walls and stuff. This makes her very powerful and her blood extra yummy and smell extra good, so the cuffs deaden her scent and power.”

Demi glared at Sage. “Thank you for that eloquent explanation.”

Sage shrugged, tossing her red hair over one shoulder. “It’s too long of a story. I wanted to shorten it so we could move on to more important things like this.” She shoved her hand in my direction and I stared at it confused.

Demi grinned. “Sage and Walsh got engaged, she’s telling every soul she sees.”

I focused and saw the small gold band on her ring finger and a grin pulled at my lips. “Congrats! That’s so exciting.” That must have been why they were all laughing and smiling when I walked in.

Sage did a little hip shimmy. “Wedding is going to be huge. You’re both invited once Luka wins.”

Once Luka wins … because Walsh was a wanted felon for killing the old vampire king. I was reminded of Luka’s plight last night. Now I wanted him to win more than ever, even if only for Sage’s happiness.

Liv and I both smiled. “Thanks, we will be there.”

Werewolf wedding?Sure, why not. A month ago I wouldn’t be caught dead at one, and now I was kind of excited. It was cool to just be a normal girl right now and let the past few days and stresses fade away.

“So Sawyer doesn’t want to see Luka fight?” I grabbed an apple and took a bite, wondering why Demi’s husband wasn’t here.

Demi played with her blond hair and I noticed her t-shirt had a different saying today.Leader of the pack.

“That would be a problem with the vampire council. Technically, Sawyer killed Prince Vicon, and besides, we have a son, so he’s home parenting while I get to have a week of girl time.” She grinned.

I felt lighter by the moment. Maybe my time here wouldn’t be too bad after all. A girls’ week with two werewolves, what could go wrong?

We passed the day watching movies. I learned that Demi had grown up in Spokane at Delphi Academy as a banished wolf, but Sage had grown up in Werewolf City and they didn’t have cable there apparently.

Sage pouted. “We must remedy this immediately! How do the vampires haveTeen Wolfand we don’t!”

I grinned and Demi nodded. “You’re right. As a part of the rebuild, we are totally getting cable and internet laid throughout the city.”

Sage reached out her hand and Demi high fived it.

Liv and I shared a smile. It was cute to see their close friendship. They acted like sisters, much like Liv and I. Liv stood up as the next episode started and motioned that I follow her to the dining room.

With a frown, I got up and left, turning the corner and meeting Liv in the more private area.

“What’s up?” I whispered. “They’re cool, right? You okay having them here?” I was totally fine among the two werewolves’ presence, but now I wondered if I had misread Liv. Maybe she wasn’t.

Liv shook her head. “No, it’s not that. They are totally cool. I’m wondering if … while we are here, and they are here…” Her eyes widened.

I frowned, completely confused. “Spit it out, Livvie. I don’t understand.”

Liv dropped her voice. “Isn’t it killing you that we are part fey and born to mothers in a breeding program that we know nothing about it? Maybe they do? Maybe … our moms are still alive? Here.”

Maybe our moms are still alive.

That single sentence flushed cold water through my veins; the hairs stood on the back of my neck. Why hadn’t I even considered it? “You think … I mean…” I was at a loss for words.

“Demi told me that she and Sage have traveled all over Magic City. What if they know something that would help us find this breeding house or whatever?”
