“I’m okay for real.”
I wasn’t worried about what he had done before I came along. I already knew he hadn’t been in a relationship, and as fine as he was, I knew he had brought multiple women into the room. I now knew why Drizzle was so mad about him dismissing her, but oh well. Dick like that, I would be mad, too, if I couldn’t get it anymore.
The room was simple. A king-size bed was in the middle. The sheets looked brand-new, so that was good. There was a rug in front of the bed. A huge viper was painted on the wall. A dresser with a television was across the bed, and a speaker was on a nearby table. It looked exactly like a room for sex and sex only.
“This is new for me, Munch, so you may have to teach me some things. Don’t be afraid to tell me what you want. Don’t be afraid to call me out on my shit either. I want to learn how to properly love you. I know what true love looks like because I saw it with my parents, but everyone loves differently. I want to know what makes Raina happy. I want to learn how you like your eggs, and do you prefer sausage or bacon. I want to know everything I can about you. I need you to be patient with me, though.”
I listened intently while he expressed his feelings. I should have been nervous because he was a well-known player, but Iwasn’t. I didn’t think he would have said the things he did if he didn’t mean them.
“You turning in your player card?” I leaned up and smirked.
He wrapped his hand around the front of my neck, something I noticed he liked doing a lot. He didn’t apply any pressure; he just let it rest there like it provided him comfort. Oddly enough, it did for me, but it also felt possessive. Like he was letting me know I wasn’t going anywhere.
“For you, yes. I want to see where this shit goes. I do have a question, though.”
“I’m listening.”
He moved his hand from my neck, and I missed his touch. He sat up and leaned against the headboard. I sat up as well and faced him.
“What made you really come to the clubhouse?”
Lines had been crossed, so I had to tell him the truth.
“To see if I could figure out who killed my brother.”
“Have you found anything out yet?”
I played with the corner of the blanket. I wanted to tell him about the flash drive but didn’t because I still hadn’t found any concrete evidence.
“No.”
Kane grabbed my hands and held them.
“I’m not sure how, but we will find out what happened. I told you, it didn’t sit right with me either. Since we don’t know anything, we will keep that between you and me. I got you, Munch.”
He pulled me onto his lap and wrapped his arms around me. I laid my head on his chest and closed my eyes as I listened to his heartbeat.
“I know you hated my guts at first.” I tried to lift my head at his words, but he pushed it back down. “Let me finish. I know you hated my guts because of shit you heard about me, andmaybe it was true, but not with you. I’m different with you, and I’m not letting you go.” He kissed the top of my head, then pulled the cover over us.
I saw Kane in a different light, and I was happy that I was the only one that got to experience it.
We stayed at the clubhouse a little longer before we went our separate ways, but he told me he would see me later.
I spent the rest of the day relaxing and catching up on the sleep I missed, messing around with Kane. My mother had asked where I stayed the night, but I lied and told her I was with Candace. It was too early to tell her anything about Kane. I didn’t want her to worry or get her hopes up about something that may not last. Kane said he wasn’t letting me go, and I wanted to believe him, but I wasn’t sure. I didn’t know how he would react if we found out someone in the Vipers killed Rameek. It was a thought in the back of my mind, but I still let myself catch feelings for him.
As I sat on my bed journaling, I spotted the flash drive out the corner of my eye. I picked it up and flipped it around in my hand.
“Something else has to be on here,” I said as I held it up. I put it down on the bed and finished my journal entry. I had written a long entry about the feelings I had for Kane.
When I was done, I grabbed my computer and put the flash drive in. I closed my eyes, prayed, then looked at the screen.
“Wait a minute. I didn’t see that before,” I whispered as I leaned closer to the screen.
I clicked on the folder that I missed the first time. It was another video.
I put my earphones in and pressed play. I grabbed the teddy bear Rameek gave me and held it against my chest as his face popped on the screen again.
At first, he didn’t say anything; he just took multiple deep breaths. I held my breath while I waited for something. Anything that would get me closer to finding out the truth.
