“Fuck.” I pull out my phone to call Police Commissioner Talon. “I’ll deal with it.”
She grips my arm and pulls me into an empty room off the main room. “They have a warrant.”
I pull off my mask and stare at her. “For what?”
“To search the basement. Charles let them in the back door, at my order, and has them down there now.”
I frown. “What is the warrant for?”
“Searching for people being held as prisoners.” Her dark eyes meet mine. “For sex trafficking.”
“This is bullshit.” I stalk the room. “It stinks of a setup.”
She crosses her arms, regarding me. “The Havoc Guardians have no shortage of enemies.”
“No one knows we own this place.”
“Well, we aren’t holding people as prisoners or trafficking them, and I have no enemies, so what do you think?”
Impatient anger ripples through me. “Go supervise the search. I’ll call the police commissioner.” But before she leaves the room, I say, “I want Anais’ membership put on probation.”
Riveria slowly turns to me. “That’s a bold move. She’s been a member since we started. And for what cause would I put her membership on probation?”
“Just do it,” I say through clenched teeth.
She gives me a mock bow with a taunting smirk. “AsYour Highnesscommands.”
Then she takes her snarky ass and leaves. I’m torn between chasing after Leeva to set the record straight and saving the Havoc Guardians—not just one of our most profitable businesses, but from the accusation that we’d be involved in something as heinous as human trafficking.
The MC trumps, though. For now. I’ll deal with this, and then I’m going to the Empress Hotel.
It’s about time that Leeva and Hayes were re-acquainted.
Chapter 24
Leeva
Anothermigrainehashadmy head in a vice, this one brought on by lack of sleep. It’s been two days since I ran from Hedon after stupidly going there and stupidly heading to the private suite where I stupidly drooled with anticipation about my wolf and that stupid Sybian Saddle.
And he’s notmywolf.
God, what astupidfool I was.
That red-headed woman was gorgeous—a freaking bombshell. And the sexual confidence oozed out of every one of her non-existent pores. She was perfection. Obviously well-acquainted with a club like Hedon and what went down there. She knew how to please a man…and probably women, too.
Not that I was envious of her ability to please other women, but still.
The man in the wolf mask might have demanded that I have no other lovers, but clearly, the same didn’t apply to him.
Add in the fact that I ran from the club, and he didn’t stop me…well, that told me everything I needed to know.
I was a toy, and he was finished with me.
With a heavy sigh, I sit up and slowly hang my legs over the edge of the bed. My migraine has eased, but I don’t want to do anything that might trigger it again. Plus, my movements are slow because I’m woozy and shaky as hell. Probably from not having eaten in…
Wait, has it been two days?
I reach for the hotel phone beside the bed and dial room service. I haven’t spoken in almost two days, so after croaking out an order for the soup of the day and some bread, I hang up and recline against the pillows, propped back on the bed.
