“You forget who introduced you to this world.” She spreads her arms wide and turns around. “Who your willing guide was.”

“You were,” I admit. “But that doesn’t give you any claim to me.”

“Who is she?”

“Not your concern,” I growl. The last thing I need is my past colliding with my present, or for Anais to act like some jealous, scorned lover and dig into who Leeva is.

“Army—”

“Leave.”

She takes a step back at the ferocity in that one word. “I’m sorry.” She wets her lips. “I didn’t mean to come off as territorial. I’m just taken aback. You’re not acting like yourself.”

“Regardless, the order to leave my private room still stands.”

“You’re fucking her tonight in this room?” Her eyes fly open in surprise, then narrow. “Youneveruse this room. What makes her so special?”

“Again, I owe you no explanation. Now leave.”

She tries a different tactic and walks toward me, sultry and seductive. I catch her wrist before she touches me and push her back.

“So this is how it is,” she accuses. “You’re shelving me while you have your latest fucktoy.”

“I want no one but her.” The words are out before I can stop them, but they’re true.

“For how long?”

“Leave,” I order instead of answering. The answer is forever.

That pinched look on her face is back, but then it smooths away, and Anais struts toward the door. “I’m more than happy to share.”

“I’m not yours to share.”

Fury passes over her face as she looks over her shoulder at me, but then she stamps it down.

“Goodbye, Anais.”

There’s a finality to my words and tone that she doesn’t miss. Her shoulders stiffen, but she finally opens the door to leave. However, she pauses after opening it.

“He’s completely worn out,” she says, and I snap my head to the door, watching her adjust her dress. “Better luck next time, sweetheart. Go find yourself some new dick.”

Fuck.

I put on my mask and rush to the door.

Once I get into the hallway, Leeva is running through the exit at the end.

Anais smiles triumphantly, but I ignore her as I race after the woman I love, who thinks I just finished fucking someone else.

Chapter 23

Army

Asitturnsout,I don’t get to catch Leeva. Because as soon as I enter the main room, Riveria descends on me like a hurricane.

“Why didn’t you alert me Leeva was here?” I damn near shout in her face.

Confusion muddies her expression, wondering who the hell Leeva is because she only knows my woman as Kathryn Wentzell, but she shakes her head. “We have a huge problem. The police are here.”
