“Well, no. I guess not. I haven’t had much time to socialize.” I tilted my head then and stared at him. “Are you part of a…”
He grinned, flashing his fangs and sticking his tongue out. “I have been. But I’m currently running solo.”
“Multiple women or men?”
I was genuinely curious, but our conversation was interrupted by Yorick coming to the counter.
“Ginata wants to see you at her table. Go take a break.”
I pointed to my chest, and he nodded. “Go. He’ll be fine.”
I took a deep breath and steeled myself. Landon patted me on the back. “You’ll be fine. Just don’t let her smell your fear.” He laughed.
I rolled my eyes but did find his words comforting. I left the bar and strolled as confidently as possible to her table.
“Scout. Beautiful, come sit,” she purred as I reached the group. I looked at the vampire man with dark hair and sharp cheekbones. He scooted closer to her, and I slid in beside him. “These are my men, Cap, Leo,” she pointed to the men on her left. “And this is Elias.” She patted the dark-haired vampire’s lap, then turned to them. “This is the one I was telling you about.”
“What about me?” I asked, a little nastier than I had intended. I flinched slightly, and she shrugged.
“Who you once belonged to, is all. Nothing of importance.” She leaned forward, her breasts spilling over her dress. I couldn’t help but glance down. When my eyes returned to her face, her red eyes were bright with amusement. “How have you been? Safe?” Her smile slid off her face, and her expression turned into one of genuine concern. I nodded.
“Yes. Very. Thank you. I haven’t heard from him since I got here.” I put my hands in my lap and looked down. I didn’t want to talk about that.
She sat back triumphantly. “See, I told you. He doesn’t have the balls to come into my world. As long as you remain with us, you’ll never have to worry about Wrath ever again.”
“Thank you,” I whispered. Suddenly her hand reached out and found my chin. She lifted my face and smiled kindly at me.
“None of this sadness. We don’t do that here. Here,” she offered me a bowl with the pills. I shook my head, but her eyes lowered into slits. “Take one.” Her voice was firmer, and I found myself reaching for one. I put it in my mouth, and Leo slid his glass to me. I took it shakily, and when Ginata repeated herself, I finally took the pill.
“Good. Now, we can relax and have a good time. How do you like the selection in my territory?”
“Selection?” I asked. Prue came to our table and asked me what I wanted to drink. I shook my head. “I’m only taking a break.”
“Oh no, darling. She’ll take a Blood Martini. She’ll be with us all night.”
“I can’t,” I protested. “Landon needs me up there.”
Ginata waved my concerns away and picked up her own red drink. “He’ll be fine. I want to talk to you, and that’s all that matters. Tell me about all the men you’ve sampled. Or women, we don’t discriminate here. We onlyencourage.” She laughed, and the men around her joined in too.
“I haven’t. I’m not really looking for anything like that.”
“Why? Because ofhim?” She spat the last word as if she had been the one hurt by my ex and not me. “He’s gone. Forget about him.”
“You know what they say,” Leo said. I looked at him with surprise. It was quite easy to forget the men were even here.
“The best way to get over someone is to get on top of someone else.” Cap finished his sentence. The table agreed with him.
“Exactly.” Ginata nodded and leaned forward again. “So what say you? Why not have a little fun? You don’t have to be in love. If that’s even a thing these days.” She snickered.
“You don’t believe in love?” I asked.
“I don’t believe it’s necessary to have a good fuck.” She licked her fangs and sat back with a thump. “And I know a thing or two about a good fuck.” Her arms reached out, and both men beside her jumped slightly as her hands roamed under the table.
“Scout, have you ever had a ménage?”
I blinked.
Oh no.
