“No!” She paused and then blushed. “Not Chase or Renee,” she mumbled. I was slightly bothered by her confession, but I understood that their careers didn’t have much room for modesty. Plus, she knew him way longer than I did. Across the table Adrian raised his hand smugly.
“I’ve seen everyone.” I shot him a glare.
“Uh, when have you seen me?” I pointed to my chest.
He winked at me and I felt my face grow red hot.
“Not in person.”
I whipped my head to look at my husband, who was conveniently looking at the cards in his hands very intensely.
“I’ll explain later,” he mumbled, but I was already piecing it together. I knew exactly what pictures he had seen.
“You haven’t seen me,” Ethan added. Adrian smirked and gave him a skeptical look.
“Haven’t I? Might as well have.”
Ethan’s eyes bulged and he flipped him off. Cleo burst into laughter, she held on to her stomach, trying to catch her breath.
“That’s not funny.”
“What’s not? Tell us, tell us now!” Derek banged on the table excitedly. The three of them looked at each other. Cleo and Adrian were sharing a look that said go for it, while Ethan was going to kick their asses. Adrian coughed.
“I may not have seen Ethan, but I have seen someone’s bare ass that looked EXACTLY like him.” He raised his eyebrows suggestively. I swear all the sound in the room disappeared for a split moment before the room erupted.
“I hate you both,” Ethan said, which only made everyone laugh harder.
“You and Evan? When?” Mark asked him. Cleo leaned over and punched Adrian’s shoulder.
“While we were dating,” she said. This story was just getting better and better.
“Alright, alright,” Ethan said after the whole story was revealed. “Can we just get back to cards? Adrian wins- he’s the group slut,” he teased. We laughed and Derek insisted we get him a crown. Adrian chuckled but shook his head.
“Sadly, I can’t wear that crown anymore. I will have to pass that down to you Derek.” He reached over to squeeze Chase’s hand. They shared a look and my heart warmed. Derek didn’t look too happy.
“You don’t know. Maybe monogamy is something I could do.”
“Have you ever had a long-term relationship?” I asked, genuinely curious. He glared at me but said nothing.
“You ever hear the song ‘The Wanderer’ by Dion? That’s me.” He smirked and took a swig of his beer. Returning to the card game I began humming the song and slowly the rest of the table started singing the song. Soon we were all shouting the words and rocking back and forth.
I had been worried that the entire evening was going to be ruined by Chris’ sudden appearance. Despite that, this was turning into a great night.
“Why don’t we bargain something other than money?” Derek suggested.
“Like what?” I asked him, knowing it was probably something ridiculous.
“I don’t know, perhaps we could ask someone to put something in. If you can’t think of anything specific it will just be a truth or dare situation to the loser.”
We agreed to try it. The first game had Ethan against Chase.
“What do you want me to add to the pot?” Chase asked him. Ethan thought for a moment.
“Plan the prom for this year.” Chase thought it over and then nodded.
“I can do that. I want you to shave your head,” he said quickly. His eyes had a glint of evil that I had never seen. It was amusing. Ethan’s mouth fell open.
“That’s not fair. I picked something nice.”
