“Happy endorphins? Isn’t that kinda redundant?” Ilaughed.

“No clue, you’re the smartypants of this relationship, Smol,” hechuckled.

“Well, I’d love that.”

After my Monday classes, I packed up my essentials and waited for Nick to come get me. I wasn’t bringing all that much besides my toiletries and some clothes because I figured I could always come back for the rest of the stuff.

As soon as I opened my door, he shot me his quick boyish smile, then pulled my hoodie– which was actually his– over my eyes and kissed my lips, making me giggle.

It was crazy that his presence still gave me butterflies.

“Missed ya, Smol. Did ya catch my goal on Saturday. I sniped it while falling down. Pshhhew,” he motioned, making mesmile.

“It was quite the goal, sir,” I confirmed.

He was dressed nicely in his peacoat overtop of fancy lulu ABC pants. I kinda wished I would’ve put on something nicer than just leggings and his old hoodie, but I loved wearing his last name and number on my back.

“Ready to go?” he asked while grabbing up a bag on my floor.

I paused in my doorway. “Yeah… I was gonna say though… Maybe let’s not tell my parents? They’ll just be upset and I can’t handle explaining the whole thing. They won’t understand.”

He leaned forward and gave me another quick kiss. “Wasn’t planning on it. I’m still a lil afraid of your dad.”

“What?” I cackled as we made our way out.

He looked at me with wide eyes. “You kidding me? He could rip my arms off if he really wanted too. Actually, with his medical expertise he could probably remove them in a way to make it the mostpainful.”

“Oh stop,” I rolled my eyes. “He likes you.”

“Yeah… Okay…” he said sarcastically. “He likes Griff way more than me. I’m spending big on some front row seats for next week’s game to try and butter him up abit.”

When players got tickets for family members or friends, the price of the seats came out of their paycheck for the night.

“That’s very nice of you, babe. Thank you.”

“Anything for you, Smol,” he winked. “Let’s get out of here. This place sucks ass,” he said coolly for my benefit.

“Sorry it’s not a lot,” he said sheepishly while looking around his one-bedroomapartment.

“It’s perfect,” I beamed. “I can’t believe we’ll get to have a sleepover every single night.” Cuddling close together every night sounded like heaven.

“Yupp. Besides away game weekends,” he said thoughtfully. “It’s too bad I have to room with a teammate. If I didn’t, I’d for sure find a way to sneak you in so you could have the Ritz experience as well,” he winked.

I rolled my eyes but didn’t doubt it. Breaking rules gave him an adrenaline rush. I moved further in the apartment to drop my bags on the ground. I really couldn’t think of a better situation… well, except maybe if…

“What?” He crossed his arms in front of his chest and leaned back against his couch as he studied meclosely.

“Nothing!” I squeaked out and shook my head.

“Your face fell! What’s wrong?” he pushed.

“No, it did not!” I laughed.

In one quick motion, he effortlessly picked me up and held me under my butt.
