“Is everyone okay?” I asked, going into the lounge.

“Jett.” Evan ran to me.

I hugged him tightly. “I’m right here, Baby. I’m right fucking here.”

“You came.” He held on to me like a lifeline. While I knew he could take care of himself, I was glad I was in time–and that he was okay.

“Always.” I looked over at the scared redheaded teenager with him. “Rose? Are you okay?”

“I don’t know what just happened.” Tears ran down Rose’s face.

“It’s okay, Rose. The police are here.” Headmistress Nikita pulled Rose to her.

“We’re here, Rose, and we’re going to get this taken care of for good,” a woman said. Detective Esposito.

“Thank you, Detective,” the headmistress replied. “This is one of the men who’d been asking about Rose previously. I thought he’d been banned from campus. He forced me to bring him to Rose when she didn’t arrive at the mixer.”

“You’re safe and I’m right here,” I whispered to Evan, reassuring him.

“Where’s the other one? Carl wasn’t alone.” Cam looked around, as other officers dealt with Carl. Another officer came in and checked with the rest of the students.

Thank goodness Cam was with me.

“We got him, he was waiting in the car,” Detective Esposito explained. “You need better security, Headmistress. You shouldn’t be able to bring him into the dorms. Now, let’s get this piece of trash in jail. There’s a special place for alphas that prey on teenagers, and you’re not going to like it one bit.”

Chapter Thirteen

Evan

“I’ve got you.” Brennan held me tight, coating me in his pine scent and shooting love through the bond. We were all outside in a courtyard off one of the parking lots at Finchley.

The very injured Carl had been hauled off to jail. The mixer had been canceled, and everyone was sent home. People had been questioned. Reports had been made.

The entire pack was now in custody. Rose’s mom was being watched, just in case someone came after her–same with the rest of Rose’s family.

“You need better security,” Brennan snapped at Headmistress Nikita as she came over to us.

“I know. About Rose…” Her expression went serious.

My belly dropped as I recalled what she’d said previously about Rose not being able to stay if her family continued to cause trouble.

“Please let Rose stay,” I begged.

“What? You can’t kick her out because of this.” Detective Esposito joined us. “No, seriously. There’s a law protecting omegas from being expelled from school or work because of alphas stalking them.”

Headmistress Nikita frowned. “How do you know that?”

“I grew up at Redwood Academy, outside of Portland. My dad was assistant headmaster. I know the most random shit. Rose stays, well, if she wants. And I’m going to give you until the end of the school year to fix your security issues before calling in a tip to the National Association of Omega Academies–because you just failed a bunch of security benchmarks,” Detective Esposito stated.

She nodded. “We did. But…”

“Look, I get it. Your full-paying fancy families will get their panties in a twist at things like this. But I guarantee you that they’ll be more upset knowing all of your security breaches. Your securityletan alpha into the dorms with a gun just because you were there. Fire that firm,” Detective Esposito added.

“Will Rose be safe now?” I asked.

“Yes. We’ll have an officer here for a few days to make sure. We’ll get everything cleaned up and get out of here soon. Thanks for your cooperation.” Detective Esposito left.

“Rose can stay. I do like her, and hopefully all of this can be put behind us,” Headmistress Nikita said.
