Riley whistled. “Poon patrol time. Got it. Don’t want to be around for that.”
“Yeah, not sure you’re usingpoon patrolright,” Jett chuckled.
“You’ll be okay?” I asked.
She rolled her eyes. “I can amuse myself. Text me when it’s over. Considering work is in a couple of hours, I will probably sleep. But I’ll go on Monday. We’re supposed to code shit with Blaise. As for the weekend, I have plans with Hiro, Marcos, and Kilroy.”
Lexi was waiting for us at the curb in a brand new SUV.
“Wow. Baby-mobile?” Wes asked as we got in.
“I mean, we know you can’t fit three car seats in a sports car,” Jett added.
“Yes.” Lexi yawned. “Shit, I must love you fuckers.”
“Same.” Riley ate some candy.
“Do I even want to know why you’re at the Bureau of Investigation in the middle of the night? Though I saw the video of Evan’s epic motorcycle chase.” Lexi took a sip of coffee as we drove away.
“Grace’s brothers and her mom showed up, chaos ensued,” Wes replied.
Jett blinked. “Does Lexi know about, you know?”
“Did I never mention that? I mean, she’s literally a detective because she discovered that she had a knack for it while helping me try to find Grace.” Wes pulled me close.
I got a jolt of pleasure through the bond. Grace and Brennan were fucking. Mmmm. Yeah, I absolutely wanted some of that.
Getting on my phone, I canceled my appointments and let Claire know I’d be out for a few days. Monday? Spencer thought we’d be done by Monday?
We got home. I brought in the groceries Spencer had ordered, Jett took Grace’s things upstairs and then got the chicken stuff for Lexi. Riley packed her things.
Already, I could smell them downstairs. I itched to join them, but I needed to see Riley off.
Lexi got some juice out of the fridge and poured herself a glass.
Wes was on his phone. He frowned. “They’re not answering.”
“I’m pretty sure that’s not how heats work.” Lexi chuckled as she finished the juice.
“It’s Brennan and Spencer. Those are the world’s most in-control alphas. I’m surprised Spencer hasn’t come up.” Wes got a basket out of the pantry. “We should bring snacks, right? Usually Spencer packs the snacks.”
“Yes, water, sports drinks, snacks.” Jett held up the box of chicks. “I’ll put this in your car.”
“Oh, they’re babies,” Lexi cooed. “When did you get chicks?”
“Brennan and Grace just got them.” I put some things in the basket. Gummy bears. Protein bars. Meat sticks. Chips. Cookies. Water bottles. Vitamin waters. Sports drinks. Yeah, that should work.
Wes grabbed the basket. “I’m going to take these down. Bye, Lexi. Thanks.”
“Anytime.” Lexi put her glass in the sink.
“Okay, see you down there,” I replied as he disappeared down the stairs with the basket.
“Ready.” Riley came into the kitchen. “Love you, you doofus.”
“Love you, too, Ri.” I hugged Riley. “Thank you, Lexi.”
Jett went out to the car with the chickens. I went upstairs, put on something more comfortable than my torn clothes, gathered a few things, and went down to the kitchen.
