Riley and I had been kept together this entire time, which was nice, but I was glad Wes was now with us.

I wished all of us were together. Though from what I’d felt a little bit ago, it seemed like Grace was with Brennan and beingtaken care of. Yes, I’d like some of that when we got out of here.

Wes rubbed his chest and frowned. “Well, yeah, Rosalind isn’t dead.”

“At least you got to punch her,” I replied.

“And you saved her, thank you.” He kissed me.

“She’s my mate. Though I think I’m going to need a really long, hot bath with her tomorrow. I’m not as young as I used to be,” I chuckled.

“Anything for you.” Wes cupped my face with his hand. “It was scary seeing her taken, but when I saw you go after her, I knew she’d be okay.”

That feeling that something was wrong with Grace continued to dig under my skin. What was it? Was she spiraling? It would be pretty easy for her to spiral with all of this.

“She’s sick, I think.” Wes’ brows knit together.

I reached out through the bond. Brennan was frantic, Jett was determined, and she was…

Fuck.

“Pimm, I think Grace might need, um, medical attention,” I finally hissed. “Can you check on her?”

Pimm got up and went to the door and spoke to someone. She came back to us.

“Grace has left with two of your family. The other is waiting for you. Agent Cora is just finalizing everything, and then you all can go home,” she said.

“Good.” Shit. I didn’t have my phone. If Grace was going into heat, we were going to need someone to take care of Riley.

“Grace left without us?” Wes frowned.

“I’m pretty sure that she’s going into heat. I’m guessing they let her go home with Brennan and Jett.” At least they let her leave.

“Oh. We’re going to need to be so fucking careful,” Wes breathed.

We sat there and waited, as any doubt I might have had of her going into heat left.

“Fuck.” Wes squirmed.

Yeah, I felt that, too.

Finally, the door opened, and Agent Cora walked in. “Everything has been settled. You’re free to go. Please don’t go far. We might have more questions.”

Riley sat up. “We can leave? Fuck-a-doodle.”

My sister gathered up the things Pimm had given her, which included a plushie, a blanket, and star-shaped candies. Not only had they let her stay with me because she was a minor, thetas were also considered precious–and apparently quite valuable to the Authority.

Jett came in and tossed everyone their phones. “Come on, Lexi is waiting.”

“Thanks for the snacks, Pimm.” Riley waved.

“You’re welcome. If you reconsider, let me know,” she replied.

“Thank you, Pimm.” Yeah, I was pretty sure my sister didn’t want to leave this world to go to the Authority Academy, but it was a nice offer considering Pimm would have to petition on Riley’s behalf because our world was Class IV.

“Lexi?” Wes asked, as we left the room.

“Yeah, Brennan and Spencer took his car. Um, Riley, we think Grace is going into heat. So, once we get home, we need you to pack and go with Lexi and the chicks. I think Spence has called you out of work for tomorrow and Monday, but you can go if you want. Sorry, we weren’t expecting it.” Jett led us down the hall.
