“You’re right. You are. You’ve more than earned your stripes, sister.”
“Good. Then I have a suggestion about all the money you’re going to steal.” Her statement brought a heavy wave of curiosity from everyone, me including. Especially since she was grinning like a mischievous kid.
“You were planning on taking their money. Right?” she pressed.
Jaxon shrugged. “Why not?”
“We’re not thieves. We’re not keeping it.”
“Then what do we do with it, sister?” Alexander was more than amused.
“Don’t worry. I’ll lay out a plan. As long as I’m one of you.” She kept her eyebrows raised while awaiting his answer.
“You are. That much I promise you.”
As soon as he’d issued the words, a solid command from the Don and leader of the Prince regime, allowing a beautiful and talented woman to take her rightful place of power, he was reminded that his little sister had been fucking a soldier in the middle of his hall bathroom.
Another first.
A full flush of red shifted from his neck to his cheeks.
He turned around, snapping at the others to do the same. “Have some damn decency and let them alone. They’re newlyweds, for fuck’s sake. We can talk logistics later.”
I don’t know who closed the door with a hard thud, but after we both counted to ten, we burst into laughter, returning to the position in holding each other we’d had before.
“My God,” she muttered. “I’ll never hear the end of this.”
“You won’t hear a word, baby. The men know I’d kill them, or you would.”
“You’re damn straight.” We continued laughing until she touched the side of my face. “I love you, Donatello Giovanni.”
“And I love you, Emmeline Giovanni.”
She jerked back, narrowing her eyes. “I never said I’d take your name.”
“But you will.”
“I don’t know about that.”
“I do. That’s the way it works in a marriage.”
“Says who?”
Huffing, I arched my eyebrows. “I do as the man of the family. You know. The one in charge.”
“Well,” she purred. “I guess we’ll see about that.”
As she captured my mouth, the weight from before lifted.
And I knew in my heart, we’d reached a new stride in our relationship.
We were now just a happy old married couple.
Just like it should be.
