The moment was straight out of a ridiculous comedy, heads peering in like bobble-head dolls.
“Jesus,” Anastasia said. “We thought something was wrong.”
“Especially when you two disappeared,” Josette added.
“You can’t be too careful. Not with all the craziness going on.” The look of true concern on Fleur’s face brought a smile to mine.
Mostly because she didn’t give a shit that we were panting like dogs, barely clothed.
I did the gentlemanly thing and kept my body covering my sweet Ambrosia’s. The look on Emmeline’s face was priceless and likely never to be repeated.
Sheer embarrassment.
How freaking adorable.
“I’m very glad to see that, um… the two of you made up.” Catherine’s laugh allowed the other three women to laugh. “Come on, girls. Let’s open that bottle of champagne. We’ll have a glass waiting for you when you’re finished, Emme.”
As the women left the group, the Prince brothers were given more lounging space.
Finally, Alexander cleared his throat.
The sound brought my lovely bride out of her silent reverie.
“What in the fuck are you doing in this bathroom?” Her demand was met with Sinclair bursting into laughter.
“The noise was so loud one we were afraid the children would wake up crying, fearful there was a boogeyman in the house,” Alexander answered.
“Sorry about that, boss,” I told him, biting back amusement.
Jaxon was enjoying the hell out of himself, taking up prime real estate in the small bathroom with his arms crossed.
“While you two were… making up for lost time,” Montgomery piped in. “We received a call from our lead hacker that everything is in place for us surprise visit to William Dreyfus. We also have proctored a limited alliance with several of our enemies who won’t mind providing limited assistance.”
I laughed. “Payment comprised of increasing their wealth through gleaning crumbs off what’s left of the Brotherhood?” While we knew the organization itself couldn’t be wiped off theface of the earth given its interlocked worldwide tethers, they could be severely damaged for years to come.
Years of peace and prosperity.
“You got it,” Sinclair said, chuckling after finally collecting himself.
“Savannah is nice this time of year,” Jaxon said with a continued twinkle in his eye.
“You should call Francoise and let him know we’re ready,” Alexander suggested to me.
“When?” I could feel my bride tensing beside me.
“There’s no time like the present. Tomorrow.” Alexander allowed the news to sink in.
The plan was to cripple every source we’d discovered was being handled, created, designed, owned, or influenced by the Brotherhood, while the black site portion of the CIA would take the lead in making arrests, fortified by Interpol and the Secret Service. While I’d love nothing more than to paint city streets with their blood, we were businesspeople after all.
Successful businesspeople. And as such, we’d need to keep our stellar reputation.
Besides, the last thing I wanted was to spend a day behind bars. I had way too much to live for.
“I’m going with you and there isn’t a single thing you can say. I am a member of the Prince family.” Emmeline’s words were laced with conviction and I think all five of us knew damn good and well she was making a promise.
Not a threat.
A slow and easy grin crossed his face and for a second, he allowed himself to look her in the eyes.
