“So, you were a fighter. That is how you made your name.Your father passed away, and again, I am so sorry, which is why I became yours?”Maeve asked.

“That is pretty much the gist of it.”

Maeve smiled, and with the sun glowing behind her, she looked so incredibly pretty.I loved when she smiled.

It had been a week since we had sex and I claimed her virginity. We burned the blankets together, but I couldn’t help feeling protective of her. From the moment I had learned about her, I had felt this overwhelming need to protect her.

In the beginning I never had any intention of using her or hurting her or treating her like anything but the woman she was. Then, as I discovered that fire, I couldn’t help but admit to being smitten. To wanting to know everything about her.Even looking forward to claiming her.

“I’m sorry about all the things my dad has done.”

“It’s not your place to apologize,” I said.

“True, because I wasn’t even born when he started to do things wrong.”She shrugged.“Do you know I used to want his love?”she asked.

This made me raise my brows at her.

She laughed.I loved when she laughed.

“I know, right, that is how much of a sucker I am, I wanted to earn his love.My brothers and sister could earn it.They were constantly getting affection and love.Me, I was pushed to one side like I didn’t even matter.”Again, there was that shrug.

“You know your siblings are not good people?”I asked.

“I don’t know much about them.I mean, sure, they treated me like crap, but they didn’t need to show me any love or respect.”

“Your sister is responsible for a young girl being thrown off a building.”

“What?”Maeve asked.

I nod.“Yeah, she made sure everyone landed a punch, luring her up to a roof, with the promise it was all going to be over, and then pushed her off it.”

Maeve’s hand went to her mouth.“You’re not joking, are you? This is not some cruel joke.”

“I’m telling you the truth.”

“I can’t believe it.You’re wrong.”

“I’m not wrong,” I said.

“Did the girl survive?”

“Yes.”

“Is my sister going to jail?”

“No, because the girl is terrified of testifying. She just wants to go home and never return to school.Your sister is a first-class bully. She is known for throwing hot food at people.Hitting them.Teachers are afraid of her.”

“That’s awful, and my father doesn’t do anything?”

“No,” I said.

The look of shock on her face tells me all I need to know.Of course, I knew Maeve wouldn’t have anything to do with her sister.

“I feel a little sick.”
