“Nope,” he said, turning around and walking towards the door.
“Forest, you better not leave me,” I yelled.
He looked over his shoulder. “Ask nicely.”
“Seriously?”
“Seriously, Peaches.” He leaned against the wall crossing his arms.
I took a deep breath regretting asking Nova to ask for his help, but he was my only choice unless I wanted to call Jude, and that seemed a hundred times worse.
“Forest, can you please help me up?” I mumbled.
“I’m sorry I didn’t hear that,” he said, coming closer.
I glared at him, debating if calling Jude was really that bad.
“Forest, can you please help me up?” I said a little louder.
“That wasn't so bad, was it?” He smirked, walking to me.
“Yes, it was,” I clipped.
Forest chuckled. “Come on, let's get you up.”
“I just needed some leverage,” I said, as he squatted over me, putting his hands under my armpits and lifting me up with a little more ease than I had expected.
“How bad did you hurt your knee?” He ushered me to the sofa.
I shook my head. “I need to use the restroom and if you get me my crutches, I can get myself there.”
My cheeks heated with embarrassment.
“I got you,” he said, holding onto me.
“If you have to go back to the ranch you can?—”
“Where’s your bathroom?” he asked, completely ignoring me.
I turned to look at him.
“I’ll get you situated and then I’m gone,” he said. “Don’t fight it, just let me help you.”
I clenched my jaw feeling a little taken aback. “Why?”
He shrugged. “I just want to help and you look like you need it.”
I pursed my lips.
“You don’t have to. I’m fine with my crutches,” I said stubbornly.
“Ok, well, I can help until I get your crutches,” he said, pushing me forward to the hallway. “I’m assuming the bathroom is here and if it's not well we are walking around until you tell me.”
“Yeah, it's down the hall,” I grunted as we made our way down.
“Great, now have you had dinner, Peaches?”
“No,” I said as we arrived at the bathroom.
