Adam had his nose in his phone, then burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny over there?”

“Jay just sent me aTiktokvideo of some dog voiceovers. They’re funny as hell. Kinda makes me want a Husky.”

I chuckled and pulled out into the traffic. “That would be interesting on a tour bus.”

“Yeah, I know. But maybe one day, right?”

I reached over and put my hand on his thigh. “One day you’ll get your dog, babe. But for now, tell me about today.”

Adam turned off his screen and gave me his attention. “First, we’re going through the set list, including the additional songs with my dad. We’re packing all the extra stuff we might need, then the tour manager Aidan hired will take us through everything. We all agreed to disconnect from our phones so we weren't interrupted. Owen’s girlfriend keeps blowing his up, and he’s distracted. Besides, we don’t carry our phones on stage with us, anyway.”

That made sense. I’d probably be the one holding onto them when they performed.

“When do you expect to be ready to go?”

He sighed. “I have no idea. Cole wants to practice until we’re comfortable with the set list. We don’t want to embarrass ourselves more than usual while we’re out there.”

I snorted. “I don’t see that happening. I’ve seen the intensity when you rehearse. You’re not gonna fuck up.”

Adam kissed my cheek. “You’re such a good cheerleader. All positive andrah-rah-rah!”

“Yeah, yeah, smartass,” I teased, making him laugh.

When we pulled into the lot at the studio, the tour bus was sitting out back.

“Have you been inside it yet?”

“Nope, just saw it online when Aidan showed it to me and Jesse. It’s really nice, though.”

I parked the Tahoe, made a quick check of the area, then got out. I smiled as Adam stayed put in the seat, waiting for me to come get him. Even though the extortion case was a thing of the past, I still chose to guard him like the most precious person in the world. Because he was to me.

Adam clicked the door locks, bringing back the memories of the day we arrived in Oceanside. Reaching for the handle, I opened the door so my Rockstar could slide out of the seat.

“Why are you smiling like that?”

“Like what?” I asked, then closed the door behind him.

“Like this.” Adam grinned and started batting his lashes at me.

I chuckled and shook my head as I reached down to hook my fingers in the belt loops of his jeans to pull him close. “No, you got that wrong. That’s howyoulook atme, Rockstar.”

He shrugged but couldn’t wipe the happiness from his face if he tried. He wrapped his right hand around my neck, the calloused fingertips sending goosebumps across my skin.

“Maybe. Probably. Definitely,” he whispered before kissing me.

I could’ve stood there all day in the parking lot just kissing him against the door of my Tahoe, but we both had a million things to do today to get ready for the tour. So, I pulled back and placed a quick kiss on his forehead as we both sighed, still wrapped around each other.

“You don’t have to walk me in,” he said, looking into my eyes. “I’ll meet you at home since I have the crazy day. Cole can drop me off.”

I kissed his forehead. “I’ll be waiting for you.”

Adam nodded. “That sounds promising. I’ll text when we get ready to leave.”

I pulled him closer. “Okay, babe. Call if you need me.”

“Will do,” he said, walking toward the door. When he was inside, I got back in the Tahoe and headed off to pick up some things we’d need on the road.
