CHAPTER24

MICHAEL

When my parentsbought this beachfront property, I didn’t think they’d ever use this heated swimming pool, much less the pool house. The four-bedroom home provided everything we’d need for my two sisters and me to stay here with our families.

But I had a new appreciation for the little bungalow style pool house that sat tucked away in the corner of the pool deck.

The weather was unseasonably warm, and I wanted to swim with my boyfriend. So I took him by the hand and walked toward the pool house.

“Let’s go swimming.”

Adam scowled at me. “Are you nuts? That water has to be freezing. I don’t do that Polar Bear thing some people do.”

I opened the door for him to enter first. After closing it behind me, I grabbed him and pressed his back to the door and I dove in to kiss his sexy neck and the Adam’s apple that drove me crazy when he talked.

“Yeah,” he panted as I shoved my hand down the back of his jeans to squeeze his firm ass. “I’d…rather do…this. No bathing suit.”

Adam grunted and thrust his dick against mine as I slid my middle finger between his cheeks to get to his hole. I sucked on his collarbone, making him squirm. Just when we needed to get naked, I took a step back, and began to strip out of my jeans and t-shirt.

He watched in wide-eyed amusement as I threw my clothes on the floor. When I was completely bare ass naked, I braced my arms on the door on either side of his head.

“Ever been skinny dipping, Rockstar?”

I watched his green eyes dilate as he tucked his bottom lip between his teeth. When he went to touch me, I stepped away and shook my head no.

Adam groaned as he stripped out of his own clothes. “I hate you,” he mumbled without heat. “I might drown with this oar sticking out of the water.”

He never failed to make me smile. “Good thing I know mouth-to-mouth then, huh?”

Opening the door, I stepped out onto the dark pool deck, lit only by the moon, naked as the day I was born. I was hard as a post, but I wanted him to experience this before my sisters got here tomorrow.

I heard the door close behind me and knew Adam was close by. I turned to find him gazing up at the moon, his beautiful ink glowing under the moonlight. I took in the lithe form of his body as he caught me staring.

He raised a brow. “What are you waiting on, He-Man?”

I held out my hand to him, palm facing up. “You, Rockstar.”

He placed his hand in mine, and I pulled him closer before wrapping my arms around him and hurling us both into the deep end of the pool.

The water was warm and swirled around us. Rising to the top, he sputtered in my arms. “You are an asshole. Warn a guy next time,” he said, raking his hair back off his face with his right hand.

“What’s the fun in that? I’m a stealthy, highly trained, former SEAL. Surprise is the name of my game, Rockstar.”

“I’ll give you a surprise,” he muttered before lunging at me, sending a wave of water my way.

We laughed and horsed around in the warm water for a while before we moved to the steps of the pool. The sound of the crashing waves was soothing. It made me miss living in Coronado, but I would live in the polar ice caps if it meant I could be with him.

Glancing over, Adam was gorgeous in the moonlight, his smile wide, without a care in the world as he looked at the stars. It made me happy to see him relaxed like this. My parents loved him, and I think he felt the same way about them.

Dinner conversation had been easy, and when my mother pulled out my baby pictures as payback for the car, I sat back and watched him flip through my life, absorbing every second into his memory.

“You were a chubby baby,” he’d teased. “Cutest dimples and belly rolls.”

I just smiled and let him have his fun at my expense.

“What are you thinking about?” he breathed, sliding down into the warm water to escape the cool ocean breeze.

I reclined on the second step, my elbows resting on the first one, and looked at him.
