Letting my hand fall away when she jerks her arm, I hear her snap, “You had your chance when you ignored my messages and instead answered them. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a job to do.”

I wave my hand and curl my fingers into a fist to pull water from our surroundings, locking us inside a dome.“I fucking said we need to talk and you’re going to listen.”

The breath is knocked right from my lungs when a blast of water hits me full force, shattering the dome around us.

“And I said you had your chance.”Turning her nose up, she stalks right into the brewery, leaving me stunned.

“Here I thought you guys couldn’t use your powers on one another,” Levan remarks.

His words annoy me, because it’s the very thing leaving me stunned. It must be the pregnancy, giving her the ability to channel powers through the force of three instead of only herself.

Watching my woman step through the door of the brewery shakes me from my thoughts, and I jump into a run to chase her.

“Fosca, sorry for pulling you from your vacation time. You know we’ve been understaffed, but we can’t get a hold of Dave, or the other two medical examiners,” Nathan tells her.

Fosca doesn’t reply. Her gaze is locked on the scene in front of her. This is why I wanted to damn well talk to her first.Being a medical examiner is one thing, but when bodies are carved up to be used as a personal message to you or those around you?Yeah, it makes a motherfucking difference.

“Now can we talk?”I grit.

Fosca gives a tiny shake with her head, as if she needs to shake off the shit in front of her, and states, “Give me a minute.”

Without any hesitation she accepts a pair of gloves from a woman who Nathan told me is an assistant from the medical examiner’s office.Fosca works in silence to glance over the two bodies.Once she’s also checked the message written in blood on the wall, she wanders back to the assistant and gives her instructions.

Her eyes meet mine.“Can we talk in private?”

“Mind including me?”Nathan grumbles.

“Later.”Fosca gives him a small smile.“After I’ve had a chat with Mr.Annoying here.Besides, you know I don’t like to guess shit. All of my findings will be included in the autopsy report which you will have first thing tomorrow morning.”

I place my hand on Fosca’s lower back.“Follow me into the office.”

Once we’re inside, I close the door and hear Fosca state, “My brother wants me dead. Not just me, also...”

“No,” I grit and cut her off to quickly throw a soundproof dome around us.

“Oh, cut the shit with those water domes. They don’t work anyway by the way those bodies keep piling up,” she growls.“Or something is really lacking in our powers.Dammit, he’s just one freaking man and even if we’ve teamed up with you and all those members...we still haven’t been able to catch shit. All while he keeps on killing. How is that even possible?”

I get her frustration.Hell, I damn well breathe it day in, day out, and feel the same way about chasing our damn tail instead of putting her brother into the ground.

Taking a calming breath, I tell her, “I believe those bodies out there aren’t a threat against you, but a direct message for me.”

She steps closer.“Bull.Shit.You’re telling me those two bodies...one of a woman whose belly is ripped open while the Kings of Anarchy’s patch of the prospect’s leather vest who is lying dead beside her was shoved into her damn abdomen...doesn’t link to a reference of someone being pregnant of a certain club president? The whole ‘I know about her’ in blood written on the wall doesn’t solidify the link either, huh?Riiiiight. Then you tell me who the hell else you knocked up, because I sure as fuck would like to ‘know about her’ too.”

I rub a hand over my face and grumble, “That’s why I wanted to talk to you before you walked in there.”Pinning her with my gaze, I confess, “There’s something I haven’t shared with you, and only a few club brothers are aware. What I’m about to tell you needs to stay between us in case this is about you.”

Fosca frowns.“You’re not making any sense.Just tell me already, ’cause I thought we were in this together, Sevrin.Trust works both ways for it to work, and I’m fairly sure the twins in my belly, along with the bond between us, should have been the first few steps toward a foundation.Glad to hear you don’t see it that way.So, tell me, or don’t...suddenly I couldn’t give two fucks.”

“Dammit, Fos,” I grit and need to calm my shit and get the words out fast before everything escalates.“A few months ago I received a call from Fatal, he’s from another Kings of Anarchy chapter here in Maryland.I became aware I had a niece. She’s alive and well and the president of that chapter has claimed her as his old lady. This secret needed to be kept because...”

Her eyes go wide and she grips my denim vest.“The patch in her belly. Those words in blood. You’re right, this isn’t about me.He knows your sister had a kid, and he’s going to kill her.”

The genuine concern in her eyes makes my chest tighten with the need to comfort her.

Pulling her close, I tell her, “I reached out when we were aware of your brother’s presence here.He won’t find them.”

She pushes against my chest to create distance between us.“He won’t stop searching until he finds and kills her.We have to do something. What if he is trying to draw her out?Scare you into going straight to her or making a call, sending someone, whatever.Dammit.We can’t do shit.”

Again, I know how she feels, and yet she doesn’t know we’ve been trying.“It might feel as if we can’t do shit, but we’re fuckin’ trying.Triton is working on a spell with the elements he’s gathered from the genie. We’ve managed to track down the apartment they are staying at and were close in catching her.At least we’ve managed to make them homeless.”
