“Oh, uh. Yeah. Of course. You’ll like him.”
“I’m supposed to ask him how he feels about ducks,” Harvey said.
Still too close.Waytoo close. How was I supposed to think when he was inches away and ridiculously sexy and masculine and all grown up and I could still taste his mouth on my lips?
“Sure,” I said, not entirely positive whatHarveyhad just been saying. “Umm. Yeah. Let’s… do that.”
“You okay?” Harvey asked, brows knitted together.
“Perfect,” I replied, slightly too loud and alottoo enthusiastic. “I’m great. Thanks.”
Harvey’s familiar just-for-me smile turned into a playful smirk.
“You’re not all off-balance after one little kiss, are you?” he asked.
“No,” I said automatically. “No, of course not. I’ve been kissed before. Don’t flatter yourself.”
I straightened up and headed for Wes and Hayden’s table, listening to Harvey chuckle as he followed along behind me.

Harvey
No matterhow hard I tried, I couldn’t stop looking at Iggy. He was so full of life and laughter, listening to Hayden’s story about Count Duckula, his personal arch nemesis, and sipping his cider.
He would’ve tasted of peaches if I kissed him now.
And I wanted so,sobadly to kiss him again, even if I’d teased him about it earlier. When we were little, he was always the confident one, the adventurous one.
Now that we were older, Iggy had shrunk back. Maybe because of Liam, maybe just because he’d settled down.
On the other hand, I’d learned to get by on my own and not hide behind him and Seth all the time, desperately hoping no one would ever notice me. It wasn’t that I went out of my way to grab attention now, but I was comfortable with it.
I wanted more of Iggy’s attention. I wantedallof Iggy’s attention.
“Hey,” I murmured, a thrill running through me as Iggy turned.
One word was all it took.
“You doing okay?” I asked. “Tired? Painkillers still working?”
“I’m fine,” Iggy said, draining the last of his cider and setting the bottle down. He’d been picking at food all evening, but I wasn’t convinced he’d eaten enough.
I was turning into my grandmother.
“Want another one of those?” I asked, nodding to the empty bottle. I’d finished mine a while ago, but hadn’t wanted to get up and abandon him.
“You don’t have to,” Iggy said.
“Yeah I do. What kind of fiancé would I be if I didn’t devote myself to your every need?”
Iggy shrugged. “Average?”
It was easy to forget he’d been engaged before.Almostmarried. Even though that was why we were still doing this in the first place.
I didn’t like thinking about the fact that he’d nearly married Liam.
“I’m gonna aim a little higher than average, if that’s okay with you,” I said, standing. “Drinks, guys?”
