I hadn’t even thought of that. “I really hope not,” I said, making a mental note to ask Hayden.

“They should put your picture on it,” Reggie said, determined.

I kind of missed him.

“I’ll pass that on,” I said, intending to do literally the opposite. I’d had enough trouble with the crowd in the bakery.

“Well, anyway, I was just calling to see how you were,” Reggie said. “I mean, I figured you’d be okay, but it never hurts to check.”

“I’m a lot better than okay,” I said. “I gotta thank you, Reg. For firing me.”

“Anytime,” Reggie said. “Seriously, I got a real kick out of it. You’re the first person I’ve ever fired.”

I chuckled, hugging Iggy—who was being very patient with me—a little closer.

“I’m honored to have been your first,” I teased. “It’s a big responsibility.”

“You’re damned right it is. I could’ve gone mad with power if it’d been someone I didn’t like.”

“You like everyone,” I said. That was the thing about Reggie. He was intense, but it was kind of impossible not to like him.

Ididmiss him, but what I had with Iggy was so much better that I was willing to live with it.

“Oh! I wanted to ask, howdidlover boy take it when your ass showed up out of nowhere?”

“Well, he agreed to marry me,” I said, grinning as Iggy turned to look at me.

“No shit?”

“No shit,” I confirmed. “Makes me officially the luckiest man in the world.”

“Hey, he’s a lucky guy, too,” Reggie said. “You tell him that from me.”

“He’s right here, you wanna tell him yourself?”

“Nah,” Reggie said. “I’ll save my first impression for the wedding. When’s that happening, anyway?”

“Uhhh,” I looked at Iggy. “I don’t think we’ve agreed on a date yet. I think we were imagining a long engagement.”

“Well, let me know. I’m serious, I’m coming to your wedding, Harv.”

“You’ll be at the top of my invite list,” I promised. “Take care, Reg.”

“You too,” he said. “See ya round, Harv.”

Iggy chuckled as I shoved my phone back in my pocket.

“He seems nice,” he said. “Excited to meet him at the wedding.”

“You heard that, huh? He invited himself to it before you’d even agreed that we could maybe have one.”

“He’s absolutely invited,” Iggy said. “You wouldn’t be here without him.”

“I might’ve figured it out on my own,” I said. “I was so sad without you.”

“No more sad,” Iggy said, tilting his head back for an upside-down kiss. “Only happy.”

I smiled as I kissed him, hitching up the edge of his sweater to tickle the sensitive skin underneath, laughing as he squirmed under me.
