“Yeah,” I called back, resting both forearms against the cool tiles.
“There’s an adorable twink out here asking for you,” Max—the receptionist—said. “Didnotrealize you’d switched teams.”
Adorable…?
“Felix?” I asked, shutting the water off.
“That’s the one. You’re remembering names now?” Max chuckled. “It’s like you’re a whole new man.”
“He’s a friend,” I said, stretching my arms above my head and ignoring the flutter in my stomach. “Send him in here, no point in making him wait.”
I grabbed a towel to dry my hair off, padding over my locker and leaving a trail of wet footprints behind me.
What was Felix doing here? It had to be urgent if he’d gone to the trouble of finding me, right?
The sound of the locker room door opening and closing made me turn around, just in time to see Felix poking his head around the row of lockers.
His eyes widened so much I worried for a half-second they might fall out of his head.
I was naked. Really naked, turned halfway toward him, absolutely everything on display.
Which was fine forme. Lots of people had seen my ass around here.
Felix hadn’t, and clearly hadn’t been expecting to.
“Umm.” Felix blinked at me.
If I rushed to wrap the towel I was holding around my waist, I’d only make things weird.
On the other hand, I was pretty sure I’d already made them weird by being naked in the first place.
“I was just, uh…,” Felix began, looking anywhere but at me. “Umm. I was… do you think you could put that towel on?”
Relief washed over me. It was fine ifFelixwas awkward about this, he wasn’t the one standing there naked in front of his best friend.
His best friend who he’d wanted to kiss yesterday.
I’d been trying not to think about it, but it was a little hard not to when I was standing naked in front of him. Did he like what he saw?
What waswrongwith me?
I tucked the towel around my waist, aware that it was barely wide enough to cover my ass. At least it covered the essentials.
Felix hesitated, then edged the rest of the way around the row of lockers.
“Something up?” I prompted while he stared about three inches to the left of my hip.
“I wanted to ask you to lunch,” he said, blushing to the tips of his ears. “Morgan told me you’d be in the gym, which I figured made sense because no one gets a body like that without spending six days a week in here, and then the receptionist—Max? Said you were inhere, and I, uh…”
“Got an unexpected free show,” I finished for him.
“I’m so sorry,” Felix said, looking down at his shoes.
I couldn’t have stopped myself laughing if I wanted to. “Don’t worry about it. You’re not the first person to see me naked and I really hope you won’t be the last.”
“I’ll leave you to get dressed,” Felix said. “I’ll just…”
“Or you could tell me why you were looking for me,” I suggested. I didn’t want him to go just yet.
