With Ezra.

Who was supposed to be his best friend, and who’d just come out to him as bi. What if Ezra thought he was taking advantage of that? Or assuming that because he was attracted tosomemen, he’d just accept whatever he was offered?

Women didn’t exactly flock around Mike. Why should Ezra be interested?

And even if he was… the thought was terrifying. What if he did enjoy it? What did that mean?

There was a tiny, traitorous voice in the back of Mike’s head that knew exactly what it’d mean. That he wasn’t as straight as he thought he was.

As hewantedto think he was, even. Because he knew without having to ask that his dad wouldn’t like that at all, and his mom wouldn’t feel much better about it.

The thought was enough to make his head spin and his stomach turn.

“Mike?” Ezra asked, his brows drawn together in concern. Just concern, no sign that heknew, that he’d been able to follow Mike’s thoughts, that he had any clue how confused he was right now.

All the same, Mike suddenly couldn’t handle being this close to him.

“I, uh. I gotta pee,” he said, getting up and nearly tripping over his chair in his hurry to get the hell out of the way. He managed a half-smile at Ezra, aiming at reassuring but probably worrying him even more.

Turning his back, Mike strode across the room as quickly as he could, ducking out of the shed and letting the cool night air soothe his hot face. Deep breaths made his chest heave, a little frost forming in front of him as he panted, desperately waiting for his head to clear.

He couldn’t be into Ezra, could he? That was…

It was…

Crap.

What if Ezrafound out?
