Derek snorted. “I’m just fuckin’ with ya. Of course, I’ll do it. Even if he wasn’t the one who jacked with Lex’s tires, that guy had bad news written all over him.” As if he just remembered the folder in his hands, D said, “Oh, yeah.” He walked over to Trevor’s desk and held it out for him. “Almost forgot to give this to you.”

“What is it?”

“Me and the guys and Mac went through that list of applicants you gave us the other day. Those are our picks for Bravo Team.”

“Bravo Team?”

“Makes sense. We’re Alpha Team. We all thought Bravo was a natural choice for the next R.I.S.C. team name.”

Trevor couldn’t argue with the guy’s logic. Taking the folder, he quickly skimmed through its contents. “I’ll check these over more thoroughly tomorrow, but from what I can tell, it looks like you chose the same ones I did. I’ll scan and email them to Jake to look over.” When Derek looked at him expectantly, he sighed. “And I will pass along the suggestion to name the new team Bravo.”

“See? That’s why we’re such good friends.” With his index finger, he tapped his temple and made a clicking sound with his tongue. “Great minds, baby.”

Trevor smiled and shook his head. “I’ll see you tomorrow. Let me know if you find anything out about Rob.”

“I’ll run him now, before I leave.” Derek threw his thumb over his shoulder toward the door. “Then, Coop and I are gonna head down to The Ranch for a couple drinks. Wanna come?”

The Ranch was a bar not far from where their office was located. It was smaller, since it was a higher-end place, it didn’t carry the rambunctious, college crowd like a lot of the other bars did.

“Can’t. I’m having dinner with Lexi.”

Derek smiled wide. “Two nights in a row. Way to go, you stud muffin’, you.” Cracking himself up, he laughed and started for the door. From over his shoulder, he said, “Enjoy your date. Tell Lex ‘Hey’.” Just when Trevor thought he was gone, Derek peeked his head back around the corner to add, “And I expect details.”

Trevor unceremoniously flipped him the bird before glancing down at his watch again. He had just enough time to pick up a bottle of wine before heading to Lexi’s house.

His heart rate sped up at the thought of seeing her again, and Trevor smiled to himself. He’d almost forgotten what this type of anticipation felt like.

After Lisa, Trevor pretty much closed himself off to that part of his life. He made the conscious decision to minimize the risk of experiencing any sort of personal loss like that again. He didn’t want to be responsible for the life of someone he cared about romantically.

This explained why Derek was unaware of any dates or casual encounters Trevor had since the start of R.I.S.C. That, and Trevor was always very careful to keep his private life completely separate from his work.

Hell, one of the biggest reasons their boss had kept things platonic with his new wife for as long as he had was to protect her. Like the rest of the team, Jake McQueen knew how easily it would be for an enemy to use a loved one in order to extract their revenge.

Unfortunately, Jake learned the hard way that sometimes, even the best protection still isn’t enough. They came damn close to losing Olivia a few months ago, but thankfully, the team got to her before it was too late.

They all learned a lesson that day. If evil wants someone bad enough, it’ll find them. No matter how hard you try to keep them safe.

After seeing Jake and Olivia survive the horrific hurdles life had thrown their way, Trevor had started to think. Maybe, just maybe, he could find someone to be happy with, too.

Lexi’s beautiful, smiling face flashed before him, making his dick twitch. He hadn’t lied about last night being his best first date ever. Though he hated the trouble she’d been put through with the flat tire, he loved the way she’d been herself.

She was so down to Earth. Even opened up to him about her mom and the struggles she’d faced financially. Everything about Lexi was just soreal.

It was one of the things that first drew him to her.

She hadn’t been embarrassed to share her dreams with him. Had called them a fantasy, but if he had anything to say about it, they’d become so much more.

I’ll make her dreams come true.

Most women had a tendency to be fake with him, and he hated it. Trevor wasn’t blind. He knew he was a good-looking guy. He saw the way women’s eyes lit up when he walked past. But when he took one on a date, they seemed to think they needed to look and act a certain way.

They’d laugh a little too loudly at his jokes. Make sure their hair and makeup was just so, as if they had to be perfect in order for him to like them. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.

As a result, he’d pretty much given up the whole dating scene and just took care of things himself. It wasn’t hard, no pun intended. All he had to do was picture a certain blonde with a set of gorgeous, blue eyes and the most adorable dimples he’d ever seen, and...

Trevor’s cock began to swell behind his zipper.Jesus.He needed to focus on something else before he completely embarrassed himself. Derek would never let him live it down if he walked out of the office sporting a massive hard-on.

To help, he grabbed his jacket from the back of the chair and draped it casually over his left forearm. Holding it in front of his waist, Trevor checked to make sure he had his keys and walked around the edge of his desk.
