Echo blinked.“Rene.He hasn’t been around as long as the others and most of that I’ve been gone. He’ll give me the least trouble. And if he does, I’ll send him back here and either deal myself or have you send someone else.”
“Good. That’s just what I needed to hear.”Raven stood.“Now, I’m going to take my woman home and spend the night the way a man should. You two can get out of here now, if you want.Or hang around for the party. That’s up to you.”The president scanned the room. Then, seeming to spot Taylynn, took off like a man on a mission.
“What do you say?”Spider turned to Jordon.“Want to hang around for the party or head back to the house?”
“The house.I want more time with just me and you.Which prospect is Rene by the way?”Before Spider could think to answer, David appeared beside him, Spider’s crutches in hand.
“The president told me to fetch them for you.”
“Thanks,” Spider said, taking them and making his way to his feet as David went back to whatever he was doing.
Spider scanned the room but didn’t see Rene.
“Hey,” Spider said, catching Pike’s attention.“Is Rene on the gate?”
“Yeah.Hunter’s supposed to relieve him in about an hour—why?”
“Nothing important, I just want to introduce Jordon to him.”
A frown creased Pike’s brow for an instant then disappeared.“Have at it.I take it you’re headed home?”
“Yep, I’ll come back up in the morning, I’ll see you before we head back, if you’re not too hungover that is.”
Pike flipped him off, laughed, and continued to the table he’d been heading for when Spider stopped him.
“Come on, wildcat, let’s head to the house.”He tucked the crutches under his arms and made his way out to the truck.
Chapter Thirty
“Want something to drink?”Jordon asked as she followed Spider back into his new house. He went straight to the sofa and sat, laying his crutches on the floor so he could get to them later.
“Are there any beers in the fridge?”He let his head fall back against the cushion, telling her he was exhausted.Had he overdone it today?
“I think so.Let me go look.”
When she came back into the living room, she carried a can in each hand. After handing them both to him, she picked up his crutches and put them next to the door and replaced them with his wheelchair. He was already tired ...they likely wouldn’t go anywhere but to bed and she wanted things ready before she sat.
