“A while.” He looks so at peace.

“Creep,” I mutter, smiling and biting the inside of my cheek.

“Oh, that’s creepy? Me watching you sleep in the morning is where you draw the line? Chasing you through the woods is okay, but this is weird?”

A laugh bursts from my lips. “Yes, that’s hot. It’s primal. This is…”

The words die on my tongue, and my heart races.

This is what, Zoe?

Sweet. Romantic. Loving.

All the things I don’t understand. That I’ve never really felt.

“This is what, Zo?” Dominik repeats my thoughts as he arches a brow, waiting for me to finish my sentence.

“It’s sweet,” I finally get out.

Dominik’s smile is so bright that it could generate enough power to sustain a city for an entire month. I don’t think I’ve ever seen him this happy before.

“I take it back,” I blurt.

He chuckles, gripping my hips and drawing me toward him. “No take backs. I can’t believe I wormed my way into your heart.”

“Nah, you can’t warm your way into something that doesn’t exist.”

Dominik looks at my neck, gently running his fingers down to my chest. Every touch creates shivers through me. His hand finds its place above my heart, the perfect balance of strength and softness. Meeting my gaze, his expression remains inscrutable.

“Your heart is the best part of you, Zoe. It’s my favorite part. And I plan on taking care of it for the rest of my life.”

“Stop,” I whisper.

This should freak me out. Why isn’t it freaking me out?

Dominik leans in, his lips ghosting mine as he stares at me. “There is no way I’m ever letting you go.”

“Dominik,” I warn.

He kisses me, and a thousand bolts of electricity trickle through my body. “I’m going to marry you, Zoe. You will be my wife. That’s a promise.”

Oh my god.

“I don’t believe in marriage.” I don’t budge, just staring at him dead on, waiting for his next move.

And I really do mean it. I don’t believe in forevers.

“You will. In time.” He smirks, as if he already knows what the future holds.

This fucking guy.

I can’t…

I—I don’t even have words.

All I can manage to do is pull him close and kiss him. We intertwine, his previous statement echoing in my mind as we make love under the morning sun.

“My wife,” Dominik growls in my ear, thrusting deep inside me as my orgasm grips me by the throat.
